Western University MSN-E Application Time!

Published

Well, I thought this day would never come, but the application period for Western U's MSN-E program starts a week from today!

I'm beyond nervous, as I've been working on this career change for over three years now. Every time I write a little of my personal statement I get a little shaky. This is so unlike me too, I'm usually cool as a cucumber.

Anyone else here planning to apply for 2012? Are you as nervous as I am?

hello,

some of us from cohort 8 have created a facebook group for you guys its under WesternU MsnE class of 2016. good luck on your apps. they should get back to you guys in Jan.

is it for the incoming 2012 class?

Hello everybody :)

the process is so nerve wrecking! december 1 is right around the corner!

The 1st can't get here soon enough! The suspense is killing me!

Hello Maseca :)

I am barely turning in my apps probably tomorrow since I found out that the dates were extended. I hate dealing with NursingCAS especially when they are all the way in MA and having to send everything there what a hassle!

I agree hk08, NursingCAS was a hassle when having to deliver transcripts out to MA> I was concerned they were not going to get there. I was nervous for almost an entire MONTH!

is it for the incoming 2012 class?

yeah its for the incoming class and those who are applying for fall 2012, we made it to help you guys through the application process and if you guys had any questions about the school and such. Its just a group of us from the cohort that is currently going through the program right now.

@ dedicatedone when i called the school to get things clarified because there was so much confusing info they told me it might be the last year that they are going to use nursingcas so thats a plus :) good luck with everything i was told by the counselor we will hear in jan about interviews!

@ maxpower77: thanks so much thats so cool that you guys are doing that if you dont mind can you elaborate more on the program in terms of work load and since we are doing entry level whats the most challenging part of the program so far? also what kinda od gpa should we be expected to have if we want to get a shot at an interview?

hey hk08,

the workload for the first semester is manageable, but I have a background in medical field so I'm probably not the best person to ask about workload or the most challenging part because its all specific to the individual. As far as GPA goes i think it something like a 3.4 or higher for the sciences GPA and the same for the last 60 units to get an interview but I don't know for sure. Someone told me the average GPA of the people who got in was like a 3.6 for sciences.

Maxpower77: thanks so much for the info! how are you liking it at western so far? I am not sure if I saw correctly but I wanted to know how many days of school there is and the times? After you are done with the RN and taking the nclex will you be able to get a paid job? thanks again for the info its really appreciated :p

FWIW - I've spoken to several people at the admission's office and each one has told me that the only GPA they look at is the last 60 units. They've said they don't consider science GPA separately at all.

I'm wondering what qualities they're looking for in order to offer the early acceptance option to people. I know they only give that option to a handful of students.

that is so weird because when I called admissions they told me they look at the last 60 units and then they look at prereq. separately as well. For the early acceptance do they just tell you a week or so after your interview?
