Western University MSN-E Application Time!

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Well, I thought this day would never come, but the application period for Western U's MSN-E program starts a week from today!

I'm beyond nervous, as I've been working on this career change for over three years now. Every time I write a little of my personal statement I get a little shaky. This is so unlike me too, I'm usually cool as a cucumber.

Anyone else here planning to apply for 2012? Are you as nervous as I am?

Hi everyone! I'm from NYC and completed my Fall 2012 application yesterday (both the primary and secondary apps).

So far, I'm waiting for my references to send in their recommendations and NursingCAS to calculate my GPA. I haven't had the best grades in the world, but I'm really hoping to get into this program, simply because I want to be a FNP and don't want to wait around just to get a BS in nursing.

I haven't done a preview day yet, but hope I can get a tour if I'm asked to interview.

I'd love to stay in contact with those of you that are looking to start Fall 2012.

Best wishes to you!

I think your okay - the FAQs say "Your application is considered complete when NursingCAS has received the following: Electronic Application, All Official Transcripts, Payment"

I also received an email from one of the academic counselors and she told me it's okay as long as I turn in both applications on or before Oct. 3..

Hi Korumcall! I just sent mine earlier this week and hopefully the process will go smoothly at NursingCAS's end. So far, they received all my transcripts and two of the three letter of recommendation. Hopefully the third one didn't get lost or else I might have my reference resend it again next week. It's so stressful trying to coordinate and making sure NursingCAS receive/process all the appropriate documents on time. We'll get through it! hahaha..

Yea I haven't personally visited the campus besides watching the virtual tour online and reading about the school. I was planning on visiting the school last month because I was in LA last month for vacation. However, I didn't have much time. Hopefully if I get invited for an interview I'll make sure to tour the campus beforehand.

Goodluck! Hopefully we will receive good news in the coming months.. hehehe.. For now, it's the waiting game..

Congrats to all those who submitted their apps already :)

I submitted mines a few days ago. I was wondering has anyone checked the status of their application on the WesternU website? Have they received the NursingCAS component of your application yet??

NursingCAS lost the transcript for one of my schools TWICE! It's finally been marked as received though, so that was a huge relief.

I've been on edge about that because Western is the only program I've applied to. None of the other programs within driving distance of my home are of any interest to me. It's Western or bust!

Just curious, I just submitted my NursingCAS application today and it stated on their FAQs that it may take up to 5 weeks to complete the process after they receive all the required documents (i.e. transcripts and references). In my case NursingCAS already received all the required documents and if it takes 5 weeks for them to process my application then would that mean I would not be considered for admission if Western Univ doesn't receive it by Oct. 3?

I just spoke to Elaine earlier today (about a different topic) and confirmed that Western's deadline is having the application submitted by October 3rd, not when NursingCAS processes everything.

Congrats to all those who submitted their apps already :)

I've checked my secondary application and WesternU is still awaiting on my NursingCAS component. It looks like NursingCAS has not made any progress in completing my application. Hopefully soon though.

Does anyone know where to check the status of the NursingCAS application? There is no link to at least tell you its progress. Or it's completed when they have your GPA calculations posted? How can you tell?

Has anyone checked their secondary application status on banapps? Mine has been "Processed" but when I click on my application for more details and scroll all the way to the bottom, it only says that my secondary application has been received but there's blanks for both the NursingCAS component and the prerequisite worksheet component. I know that NursingCAS will take a while but how long will it take for EDS to indicate that the prerequisite worksheet has been received and processed?

Oh - and best of luck to everyone who applied!

Because of a transcript delay (I had to send transcripts from one school several times before it was actually marked as received), NursingCAS hasn't completed my application, so my banapps application still says Incomplete. However, I sent in my paperwork to EDS back in August, and it showed as received within 2 or 3 days.

Thanks Maseca. I just got an email from EDS stating that because of the volume of applications this week, they need 5 to 7 days to process everything as opposed to the original 2 days that is stated on the FAQs sheet.

Hi everyone! I just went on Western's website just to see the checklist for the secondary application and I saw that the deadline was extended to DECEMBER 1! I'm going to call tomorrow to see why. Not that I need the extension, but I wouldn't mind a few extra days to get my personal statement just how I want it. :)
