WGU Pre-Licensure- Dallas Summer 2017

Nursing Students Western Governors

Published

Hello Everyone! I was searching to see if anyone had posted about the upcoming cohort coming up here in Dallas. Since i couldn't find anything i decided to make one. I am interested to see if anyone has applied? or has received any news? been accepted? or even older students, if you have any advice for this program.

I already have a Bachelors, but i would like to end up in a Np Midwifery program. If anyone has any information on schools that will accept students with a BSN from ,while not being turn off by their pass fair approach, i would truly appreciate it!

Fingers crossed that i get accepted!

Thank you for sharing everyone! I got the call today, I got in!!!!!!

Has anyone had their intake interview yet? What questions do they ask, etc.?

Thanks!

Thank you! But yes i would say that the TEAS is a bit heavy on A&P but not really all the specifics. You need to know it but you don't have to know everything. I felt like it was basically testing my over all knowledge of the subject. So when it came to studying, my case was a bit different. I only studied for about 1 1/2- 2 weeks, I hate prolonged study plans. I borrowed books from the library that covered the new TEAS material because i didnt want to pay for the study material. I tried looking online for free practice tests but could not really find what i was looking for. I search on groups like on here for any other resource and everyone kept on saying that you should just buy the practice test from ATI Themselves. But again i was being really cheap and i felt that if i was able to master the materials then i will do fine on the test no matter what format it was in. So for those two weeks i used The Princeton Review, Kaplan and Khan Academy to study.

My Results

Over all : 83

Reading 91

Math 90

Science 80

English in the 60's ( I gave up at the end lol i was so over the test that i started guessing)

I went in with the mind set that if i didn't score above a 70- 80 then i was going to retake it.

Let me know if this helps!

Thank you for responding!

I took my TEAS yesterday. I'm trying to decide if going to retake it. I think I might.

Here are my stats:

Overall:74.7 ( proficient)

Reading:87.2

Math 62.5

Science 70.2

English 83.3

My GPA 3.63

I have been a medical assistant for 9 years. Going to speak with my advisor on Monday and see what she says about whether or not I should apply for the upcoming houston cohort

If you have all the requirements done, I would still apply you never know. Nothing to lose.

I also think you should apply because like @centercourt2015 you never know. Your score is not bad, maybe if it was in the upper 78-79 i would be more confident but still a 74 is not bad. Apply and pray and i have a feeling that you might get in. Best of Luck!!!

Thank you and center court for your comments. I went ahead and submitted my application. It will be 1 month if waiting for the answer. I will come back and update.

I'm sure most of you are able to access your courses already but Y'ALL I'M SO EXCITED FOR 00:00 SATURDAY WHEN I CAN FINALLY ACCESS COURSES.

I was counting down too!! What do you think so far? I've finished the organization systems and taken the preassessment for info management. ...started the webinar class modules but a lot of writing so far in that!

I think I'm farther ahead than I expected to be a week after starting lol. I finished all but three of the assignments for Professional Leadership (they're way easier and took less time than I expected!) and I'm set to finish those this weekend. I don't have the webinars until the last two weeks of july though so I will have some time to kill. I finished org systems and did the preassessment for info management too, could probably take the test this weekend but I want to review a little more over the next week. I will start on biochemistry next week too and I'm hopefully going to finish that by mid-August but planning for the last weekend. Overall I'm still super excited and ready to continue getting things done! But my brain needs a little break tonight haha.

Hey y'all! How is your term going? Two months down! Where are you at in your degree plan? I was set back about two weeks in August from being sick with strep an tonsillitis that didn't respond to the first round of antibiotics and a mystery virus, along with my husband and daughter pretty much all at the same time. :( I'm finishing up Biochemistry this weekend (I failed my first OA on Saturday, which sucks a lot but that's what I get for doing it when I'm exhausted...) and will be doing Dosage Calc and Pharmacology over the next two weeks, took the PA and I'm ready for both. I'm so excited to start Intro to Nursing, too!

Hey! It has been going pretty well. I love being able to test when I'm ready, so I've been able to get through some things pretty quickly! Biochem was definitely the roughest, but everything since then has much better :) I'm hoping to finish up stats this weekend, and then start the skills portion for Intro to Nursing! That OA was pretty intimidating with so much material being covered, but I did well so I am relieved I haven't forgotten too much in the 8 years since I've taken A&Ps and micro! (yikes!!) I am excited/nervous about the skills lab, but really looking forward to meeting everyone! I can't wait! :)
