West Coast University 2018

Hello!

I've been lurking for awhile on this forum but I haven't been able to find an answer to some questions. (Or maybe I'm not looking hard enough).

I am planning to apply to WCU in 2019. I know it's an expensive school. I am taking some classes at my local community college to get most of the pre-requisites out of the way. I think I'm able to knock out 10 of the classes by the end of this year. I was just wondering:

1.) What is the average cost of attending after getting most of the pre-reqs done?

2.) How fast would I be able to graduate? I'm hoping to be a full-time student so taking 12+ credits, but I heard that they pick your schedule for you? I was unsure about that.

Hi,

I currently attend WCU as a first time student. I, too, completed all the required pre reqs not including their classes that have to be taken there (FYS, critical thinking, patho, GE capstone, cultural pluralism ) and its 17,000 a term and there's 2 terms a semester and 2 semester in a 10 month time frame what they consider a year. So for me I start this month and graduate in 2020 if I take all their required classes including the nursing core.

So the average is 100,000 that's NOT including grants, financial aid, scholarships, etc. HOWEVER, the average DEBT for that school is only 43,000$ and 92% of people who attend WCU have to borrow money. (This was given In an info session packet).

Full time for them is only 3 classes per term. You cannot over load the first term but you can after that and only for pre reqs you cannot overload for any nursing core.

The first schedule you get is the times they pick for you. After that you are able to change and pick your time however in nursing there might be a time where dates and times changes the night before. So be prepared for that. If you knock out all the required pre reqs you will be there for 2 years.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I tried the program. I transferred all my prereqs. They quoted me 92k. I didn't get into the nursing core program just yet. They made me take 2 classes that is specific to their school. I was there for a couple of weeks and then I left.

I think it's a bad idea to go there. It's too expensive and the courses you take there don't transfer.

It takes two years but so does community college.

They give you a loan which covers you for a year and then you're on your own.

Please consider an alternate route.

Their classes are transferable to any school that is WASC accredited.

Thank you for the reply! I ended up going to the information session and passed their HESI exam :) I'm hoping to start in April!

The waiting list for community college is long, which is why I am considering going to West Coast. Thank you for the information though!

How do you like the campus so far? It looks so small!!! Granted, I've only seen the front and that's about it. The surrounding area looks a little weird to me too, but at least parking is free! lol

The campus is fine. I'm only in class one day out the week so it's not like I spend most of my time there. The surrounding area is like whatever to me cuz I live in the ghetto lol so it's not like it scares me. Yeah parking is really bad after 11 am so some of us have to park across the street at the movie theater.

hi would you mind telling me how hard the hesi was and what subjects were focused on?

What hesi study book is needed? I have the 4th edition.
