Hi all,

I was wondering if there are any nursing students from West Coast university? I was wondering what their schedule is like once they started the nursing courses and clinicals? Are they evening/weekend classes? Are there evening/weekend clinicals?

Thank you for your response!

One more thing about paying the loans... if you aren't able to secure a loan elsewhere you can get one thru WCU. The problem is, it has to be paid off in full before you can graduate/take the NCLEX.[/quote']

I am a student at WCU - I was not aware of any loans that the school does. Interesting. What campus did you attend?

so is this school worth all the money you pay cause i looked in to the school but im iffy cause i want to go on with my nursing career to masters or more and it doesn't have a wasc accreditation which makes it completely not good for people like me who would like to expand their education

I was unable to obtain a conventional loan, so the school offered me their loan, which had to be paid back in full prior to graduation and eligibility for the NCLEX. I attended the LA campus, on Vermont St.

My RN supervisor is a graduate from WCU, and so are the other 2 RN supervisors for other shifts, they all had nothing but good things to say about the school, besides the price! But basically they stated that they really got their money's worth with their education, but have to pay loans for a really long time.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

The BSN program at West Coast University costs a staggering $132,000 in tuition. If you financed $132,000 for 10 years at the interest rate of 6.875%, you would be repaying an outrageous $1524.14 per month.

$1500+ monthly in student loans? That's not a good way to start out as an RN!

Reminds me of my mortgage, but I got to live in the house before the mortgage was paid off in thirty, yes thirty, years. Can't graduate and take NCLEX until $132,000 is paid?

Specializes in Neuro/Spine.

The thing that killed this school for me was the scheduling, which try don't tell you about until you attend one of their info sessions. They have 8 week sessions, and classes run from 7am till 11pm. You are randomly assigned your class sections. They made it very clear that no amount of begging, reasoning, etc would allow you to change the class times you got (which change, randomly, every 8 weeks). I have 2 kids, so there was no way I could have found day care for that kind of screwy schedule.

I was interested in getting into their B.S.N program, but no more coz they told me to retake Microbiology and English Literature at their school. They told me that theses classes that I took at Cypress College are not the same as theirs, Crazy!!!!!!!!!!!. I only need Anthropology and Cultural pluralism from their pre-requisites list. Its all about money 132k is a lot of money so they are pushing me to pay this amount.
