West Coast University Spring 2018 BSN

Published

Hello, I am starting this thread because I don't see any current threads for the 2018 spring start so I thought I'd make one.

I applied to WCU for the spring 2018 and was wait listed at number 5 and was granted acceptance into the BSN program. Everything has been smooth so far except my financial aid officer. Can't say I'm a fan of hers; anyways, I wanted to see if there were any classmates who would be joining me in their GE classes such as critical reasoning, pathophysiology, first year seminar?

It would be nice to make friends through out this 2 year process.

Which class was the most tedious for you??

I just have two terms before I start my nursing core classes :)

Exciting!! It will go by so fast. In my opinion, I wouldn't say any of the courses felt truly difficult. But OB was just different content altogether so it required more effort.

Thank you for helping us @melm07 ! Which campus are you at? Are the ATI assignments based on what you get right or based on completion? I heard we take ATI exams as well, and I was wondering do we take ATI exams instead of regular exams or how often do we use ATI for exams?

Heeey which campus are you at? I'm going to start aug 20 at the OC campus but I have 2 terms of general ed first

Federal loans are the better option as the interest rates are typically much lower than private loans. For example my fed loans have an average 4.5% interest while my friends Sallie Mae loans are 18%. So it's a pretty huge difference. With the federal loans you don't have to start paying until 6 months after graduation which allows you time to find a job. My advice would be to begin paying them now as it will stifle the interest that accrues and save you money in the long run.

I have worked 2 part time jobs (so full time hours, sometimes more) throughout the whole program. People will tell you to quit your job but I didn't think that was necessary. The program wasn't really that hard in my opinion, just time consuming.

Also, about the loans how do we find out how much do we have to pay monthly if its the federal plus loan? And I just checked my student portal it still doesn't show anything in my award letter for my financial aid. I applied and got accepted for the federal plus loan at July 3. the only thing that was missing for me was just applying for a loan to pay for the remaining balance.

I'm honestly not sure! I know I'm able to view my fed loans through the fed loan website but other than that I couldn't tell you. Call the financial aid office at school or meet with them and I'm sure they can tell you how to see your info

Okay I just called them they told me I won't see my payment plan choices till I start school since it's a federal plus loan.

Soo overall you like the program? How are the professors?

Hey @jxanna1018 I'm at the OC campus as well and start nursing core in Fall II :)!

@dani8282

Ooooo!!! Are you going to go to the registration this Friday?!

Fall ll starts on aug 20 right?? That's the one I'm in

@jxanne1018 there is registration Friday? I did orientation last month and the clinical packets last month:). What is the registration for exactly? To get classes for Fall? Or is it to go over orientation?
