Hello! I want to eventually do travel nursing as a wound care nurse once I obtain enough experience. I was wondering what it was like as a wound care travel nurse. Do you enjoy it? Do you do specifically wound care, or do you have to do other specialties such as medsurg/tele? I was wondering because I heard many travel nurses float to different units, but I was sure if wound care was the same or if we still do specifically wound care. Any advice you have? Hello, I am curious on what it is like working as a woundcare nurse at Kindred hospitals like the one in Los Angeles, or even any in Orange County. I have heard mixed reviews about nursing at Kindred but unsure about wound care nursing. Thank you for your help!

Hi everyone! I am curious, how is wound care nursing? I know most nursing careers are stressful, but how stressful is woundcare compared to other nursing jobs? Is it challenging to learn woundcare compared to other nursing-related information? What do you like/dislike about it? Is it difficult to do consults and figure out what to do with the wound? I am a BSN nursing student in California graduating in August 2020 if all goes well. My boyfriend is starting PT school in January 2021, so I was going to work as a RN and hopefully work on my masters for the next 3 years. We and my family are thinking about moving to Florida after we make enough money in California to move over and buy a townhome or house. I was wondering what is it like living in Florida? How is the qualify of life? I am a certified diver and love to scuba dive, travel, jet ski, wakeboard, or anything having to do with water! I know that the weather is humid from what I’ve heard, but if you’re a water person and have been used to humidity during travel and such, do you think the weather is doable, or is it really that bad? Also, I have heard that the pay for nurses is low compared to other states, but there is no income tax. What is it like being a nurse in Florida as far as making a living? Would you say that you can live comfortably? I also heard that the state is saturated with nurses. I really want to be a postpartum or labor and delivery nurse. Are those really impacted? Do any of you recommend a hospital or city to be in? Would it be a good idea to do a RN job and be a nursing instructor? I love to also tutor/teach, so I’ve always had that in the back of my mind as far as masters goes. Thank you all!

@jxanne1018 It usually takes a few days at the most, but on weekdays, it should be within like 1-2 days! :)

Hi @rochelle002 ! :) The 2nd week was not bad at all! You take the pretest and it doesn't matter at all what you score on it except for the amount of modules the smartprep will give you. If you score poorly, you will have a lot of modules, but if you score high, you will not have to do as many modules. However, everyone needs to do smart prep. Then, you take a post test online at home. The 58% or higher matters when you take the actual TEAS VI at the end. Don't worry, you'll do great! :)

@FutureNurse2308 We are the first cohort having to take the TEAS VI test again as a part of FYS even if you already took the TEAS and HESI, but it is not too bad since it's just points off if you fail which you most likely won't as long as you have either taken it or study it :)

@jxanne1018 I think it comes with the class, but I'm not 100% sure. Even though people including me already took the TEAS VI and HESI, they are still making us take it as a part of the class, but by my calculations, you can fail it and still for sure pass the class.

@jxanne1018 Don't be nervous at all for critical reasoning :)! I did it online with ------------------- and it is very doable. We only have 5 quizzes and there are weekly discussions and assignments to bring your grade up just in case and the term paper is 4-6 pages. She's very sweet! First year seminar we only meet 3 times- once for orientation to the class, one for the pre-test for the ATI teas vi and then last to take the teas vi. We were upset at first about having to take the teas again, but as long as you get 750 or something points in the class, you pass and it's a pass/no pass class so you can get the minimum score and pass. There's no letter grades for that class. The work is online which is just title XI training and library searches and things like that. If you get 58% or higher on the teas, you get 150/150, but if you go lower, it's like 75/150 or something like that so you can bring that up by assignments and discussions. It's a very easy class! Even though you took the teas, you still have to do it again but this time it's not as important and you can probably bomb it and still pass the class in case you're worried :).

@jxanne1018 I have to take some GEs- I took Anyhropology (counting as cultural pluralism) at my community college, critical reasoning online and First year seminar at west coast, and then even though I have taken stats, I needed to take algebra because I skipped it at my school with the placement test and they don't accept placement tests. So, I am taking intermediate algebra at SCUHS in Whittier. Then August 20 I take capstone and pathophysiology :)! I heard capstone is a research paper or something but I am not sure. That's a great question! Yes tou buy the supplies from the school. I mean I have a littman stethoscope of my own so I didn't get that.

@jxanne1018 there is registration Friday? I did orientation last month and the clinical packets last month:). What is the registration for exactly? To get classes for Fall? Or is it to go over orientation?

Thank you for helping us @melm07 ! Which campus are you at? Are the ATI assignments based on what you get right or based on completion? I heard we take ATI exams as well, and I was wondering do we take ATI exams instead of regular exams or how often do we use ATI for exams?
