West Coast university - any other schools that offer fast track no waitlist?

PLEASE reconsider this! The crushing amount of student debt- for a decade or more- will impact where you can live, what you can drive and how you spend your leisure time. Waiting for a more affordable option can save you all of that misery.

I understand, my husband and I have talked this over many many times. Fortunately we own our home and feel this is the best move for us. I don't want to keep waiting. The waitlist at my current community college is 2+ years. I know it will be a hefty bill, but we're willing to take it on so I don't keep wasting time.

Agree with above. The 100k+ tuition is not worth it. This would be a very big mistake. There are other options out there.

I went to a private school (but not as expensive as West Coast), and I highly regret being so impatient to get into a program. I have paid so much money in tuition repayment. Lesson learned.

Trust me from someone who's been through similar, don't do it.

Please at least run the ACTUAL numbers on the debt you will accrue and sit down with the spouse and discuss.

Have you looked into CNI College, American Career College, and Stanbridge University. All three have Rn programs without a waitlist. They cost about 75,000 for each program. The cost is less if you have classes done. Also these aren't Bsn programs they're Adn programs. Hope this helps you out.

I'm sure you will get a lot of replies saying the debt isn't worth the fast track. Doesn't this say a lot? Also, you mention about wasting time waiting. There are numerous things you can do while waiting to get into a nursing program.You can start studying early and best of you, you can find a position in the medical field to help expose yourself to the subject and get your foot in the door. It seems like you're looking to shell out a large amount of money to get into a job that will give back much more in return. This is true, but only to an extent. Why can you not wait a bit longer to find a good school? Have you ever thought that if you fail out of this profit/private nursing schools that you will still have to pay the debt? Have you ever thought that some of these private/profit schools are looked down upon among certain hospitals and recruiters? Remember, there is no easy way into nursing. You should highly consider all your options.

Hey guys!

Thank you for all of your input. I feel like I need to explain/defend myself. Lol.

My husband and I are very stable. My husband makes great money himself, we own our house and have an income property, so financially we're solid. I was in school before to do nursing, did prereqs at my community college, but then took time off when we got married and had 2 babies. Now that I have kids and have time to get back on track, I really don't want to waste the time being on a waitlist for 2+ years.

I have a few friends who've gone to WCU and have jobs now in ICU, ER and L&D so I'm not worried about future employers based on my resume.

I really was just wondering what other schools offer a no waitlist program, but would rather get my bachelors so I'm gonna stick with WCU. Thanks for your inputs guys!

I'm not sure what part of Cali you're in but look into Western Governers University, National University, and your local state universities. Also I know Los Angeles Trade Tech College has a waitlist but I don't think it's 2 years long, more like a 1-2 semester wait.

I won't tell you how to plan your financial future but I will say to do your research. There are definitely options out there where you're not waiting two plus years to start school or where you're $100,000 or more in debt. Good luck!
