West Coast University Miami (Doral), Florida

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am starting this post for anyone attending or applying to West Coast University in Miami (Doral) Florida. West Coast University has a brand spanking new campus in Florida and they are offering a 39 month BSN program. I am currently going through the admissions process. The staff is extremely professional and helpful. So far I am very impressed. Getting into nursing school in South Florida is very competitive and WCU is helping to make this a seamless process for me.

Please voice your thoughts, comments etc.

Awesome, how you like it so far. I'm all set to start in June. Classes are FYIS, ENC, and Cultural Pluralism online.. What classes have you taken? Which ones will you be taking in the summer?

I'm taking those now. FYS and cultural pluralism. That's good that you're taking them online. Really no need to go to campus for those courses. Next session I'll be taking capstone and patho physiology. It's so expensive. That's my only problem. The school is good and I've heard good things from friends in the program. Also have a friend in my class and he sees WCU students in clinicals and knows of nurses that work at his hospital that teach in WCU.. Check if you qualify for a scholarship. I got one. Doesn't cover everything but something is something.

Cool! Well only cultural pluralism is online and the others on campus. Yes, I also got the scholarship. I agree with the expensive part but at the same time it's worth it coming from a fully accredited university without the wait list hassle. Thankfully, the hospital where I work at also offers tuition reimbursement and etc. did you purchase your books thru the school library?

Oh ok awesome! Yeah I played for MDC and I'm still waiting to get accepted. I didn't want to wait anymore.. I actually purchased one book on eBay. It was cheaper than the bookstore. Sometimes renting or buying from these other companies on eBay is more economical. I suggest you look into it. It's called half.com

Ridiculous the wait time. Ok cool beans. Well let me know if you decide to sell your books after the semester is over (I'll be taking those classes next). Thanks for responding. Hope to see you around campus in the summer.

Hello I'm a WCU hopeful for fall term the second term that begins in October I have an AA from Miami dade college so hoping some credits transfer for the BSN I see it is quite expensive but hope it's worth it I applied to Mdc and didn't get in and have been chosen as an alternate to broward college nursing with a 3.0 gpa so looking into WCU and chamberlin what are your experiences with WCU? How much is it for the BSN if u have some transferable credits and how is the program so far for those attending thanks

I was wondering if anyone is currently enrolled in the program. I was at the campus recently and was very impressed. I was trying to get into an accelerated program since I currently have a BA degree. Most traditional RN programs are very difficult to get into. I am a little hesitant on the program. The reviews I have found aren't the greatest and would love some feed back from current students.

It is very hard to get into Barry. They have a strict admission process so your statement about accepting students with an imperfect record is not true. I am a student at west coast university and they did not have a strict admission requirements when I was accepted but now that they're getting busy I have heard differently from the new students. Not having strict admissions requirements just means more students will fail out of the program. Nursing school always weans out those who are not meant to be or smart enough to be nurses. It's not easy.

Hey how do u like the program at west coast how long have u been in the school for ? I got accepted and may begin in October but would really like feed back from an actual student where do you do your clinicals ?

It's a great school! It is just as hard as any nursing program and we do most of our clinicals in the local baptist hospitals. I graduate next year. I have been in the program for a year now and I really like it.

Okay I sent u a private message if possible if u can email me just because I may start the program next month and definitely have a lot of questions if u don't mind since I don't know anyone that attends the school I passed the teas but only enough to take the classes they require like the capstone and I forgot the other 2 I need so I need to take the teas again before starting nursing core. How does the nursing class schedule look like are u still able to work while in the program ?
