West coast university HELP

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I'm currently in my 1st term at west coast university Ontario campus. I'm taking an anatomy class that is blended, meaning we pretty much barely have 2 hours of in class lecture per week then we're on our own to learn the rest of the material needed for that week. Also our lab and lectures never add up. I've taken a&p before & never had to learn half of this stuff they want to cram in a 10 week course. Apparently blended classes are a new thing for this school. Has anyone attended WCU and had a blended science course? I honestly feel like they are setting people up for failure! Also I'm started to second guess myself for choosing this school. After talking with MULTIPLE different people that should be able to help students with questions, not one person knew what they were taking about except the dean. The " for profit" really shows with this school, they can care less about the academic success of students....ADVICE NEEDED!

Neosoldier is right. 11k per term which honestly after attending 1 term at west coast is entirely too much. Like he said it's a lot of info in 10 weeks but if you have all of your classes done already then nursing core shouldn't be too hard to manage.

thank you guys. WCU gave me a scholarship and the first year will cost me $10,000 after Fafsa, grants, and fed loans. I am hoping to have the same luck next year with the scholarship and I was also given me schedule that states I would graduate in 2 years. The benefit I see in this school is that I'll get a Bachelors too and the Nurse I work with mentioned that most hospitals are not hiring new grads with out a bachelors.

That's not necessarily true, the hospital I work at hires plenty of nurses without a BSN. It depends on the hospital.

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

If you are taking out loans it is costing you more than $10k- the loan still has to be paid back. Please PLEASE run the numbers on paying back the crushing amount of debt this program will cost you. Remember that you have to repay whether you graduate and ever work a day as a nurse or not.

I will be making monthly payments directly to the school so that I don't have to take out loans and deal with the interest. At Meanmaryjean and Neo Soldier, where did you attend school?

Purdue University and . I busted my sizeable behind and paid cash too - Why?

I am interested in but I was told when speaking to a rep that their program is very competitive and most people who are selected have TEAS of 85 or higher. Did you attend WGU at Cedars or Huntington Hospital?

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I went to riverside city college for my ADN. Also, you will still get hired if you earn your ADN. You may be limited where you get hired but the important thing is that you get a job while you work on your BSN so that you have experience plus a BSN.

I really hope they clearly explained to you that the monthly payments must be made on time or else they will hold you back from applying for classes when it comes to next term. I have a friend that pays cash & holy **** she's more stressed about coming up with the cash than anything. If you have the means to pay cash monthly more power to you.

@nurselore Which campus are you attending? I start core in January too! I know several people that graduated from WCU-LA with honors and worked while attending the program. It is totally doable if you apply yourself well. Another friend is currently attending, he will graduate in a few months, and has worked full time thus far.

I will be attending WCU LA!! I think one of the important things with this school is to push each other

@nurselore Awesome! I am attending there too & start core in January as well. Heyyyyyyy í ½í¹‹*♀️
