West Coast University DALLAS 2018 NEED INFO

Published

Hello! I am considering West Coast University for the BSN program. I am having a difficult time finding anyone in the Fort Worth area that has even heard of this place. I want to know how the hospitals feel about this school. I've heard some places wont even hire from Dallas career colleges. I am a military spouse and have very limited time in one location. I want to be an oncology nurse but am very concerned about credits not transferring out of this school. Also, if the accreditation is from the west coast, will I get a job on the east coast? So many questions, so little time! Haha! Any other military members have any experience here?? Any WCU graduates here that can answer some more questions? :)

Hello all,

I am new in this group and interested in starting this August. Anyone knows how the schedules for evening classes? Is that evening included the weekend or they are both separately? Thanks. I am done with all the paper works but just need to repeat my Micro at dccccd due to expired. Thanks all.

Hello,

I am in my 1st term at WCU, I love it! the evening class depends on what class you are taking for me Anatomy is Tues and Thurs that you go to campus! the other days work is due online, it is very fast paced and you cannot get behind, they have alot of support for students through student services and tutoring. It will take alot of organization and good time management to stay on top of it. Good luck on your journey.

It’s been a minute since I’ve commented on this post. After submitting all my transcripts I found out that I didn’t actually have to retake any science course!!! I have secured all my financial aid and my official start date is August 19! I’m so excited to get started. I’d like to hear how the journey is going for y’all. Any advice you could share?

Good for you! I'm still going strong. I'm a little bummed that we now don't have a full week 10 off, but I'm going to keep pushing through. I'm almost done, so I won't sweat the small stuff.

As far as advice goes, just study as much as you can. Don't fall behind or you'll suffer a lot. Learn everything; don't just memorize. They don't reteach anatomy and patho in CORE, so if you don't understand the basics, it'll be a tragedy for you. Best of luck!!

I don't know the exact schedule for evening classes. I'm sorry. I do know that the name of the program is evening/weekend, so the classes are scheduled for both evenings and weekends.

I don’t know the answer to that one! I had to take critical reasoning and cultural pluralism at WCU. It kinda ticked me off too. Cultural pluralism counts as a Humanities credit, which I already had coming in, but they still required me to take their specific Humanities class. It was really irritating. And when I took Critical reasoning at WCU, it was on campus, not online like it is now. So I was in that classroom for 5 hours! UGH!

I currently attend this school. It’s a challenging program, but it’s not impossible.
