:woot: Hello everyone

Good evening.

Leadership is not the same as Management.

The most important characteristics must be in the leader

NO WHAT IT IS?

I'm sorry I don't understand this statement. FYI in online etiquette typing in all caps is considered shouting /rude.

My dear

What is the mistake in my words

Why do you say that?

I don't understand what you are seeking an answer to based upon your initial statement and subsequent response.

If this is for the leadership and management class there are at least 5 current threads on the subject.

In regards to good leadership & management (as that is what appears to be what you are querying for responses) good leaders & nurses leave terms of endearment ( honey, sweetie, dear, cutie, etc) for those who are dear to them as a matter of mutual respect between the nurse and colleagues and patients.

Hi!

Welcome to AN! We are happy to help. What country are you from? You and your classmates must be in a leadership class right now. Allnurses hosts members from all over the world although it is based in the USA. What Beachy was saying is that when you type using all upper case letters...in the US that is considered "shouting" on the internet and is considered rude.

This web site has rules called the Terms of Service that members need to follow....called the Terms of Service. Look at them so you can better understand how to communicate better.

In the US students are not allowed to use the internet as a part of their research. It is considered cheating. Here at Allnurses we will help but you must tell us what you think first before we will help.

I believe what you are asking is....Leadership is not the same as Management. Just because you are management doesn't mean you are a leader. What are the most important characteristics/qualities that must be in a good leader?

What do you think would be good qualities for a good leader?

I think the difference between a manger and leader is simple. The manager's job is to plan, organize and coordinate. The leader's job is to inspire and motivate.

  • A manager administers; the leader innovates.
  • A manager is a copy; the leader is an original.
  • A manager maintains; the leader develops.
  • A manager focuses on systems and structure; the leader focuses on people.
  • A manager relies on control; the leader inspires trust.
  • A manager has a short-range view; the leader has a long-range perspective. The manager asks how and when; the leader asks what and why.
  • A manager has his or her eye always on the bottom line; the leader's eye is on the horizon.
  • A manager imitates; the leader originates.
  • A manager accepts the status quo; the leader challenges it.
  • A manager is the classic good soldier; the leader is his or her own person.
  • A manager does things right; the leader does the right thing.

Welcome my dear

I'm from the United Arab Emirates

Thanks my dear

Here is one of the threads mentioned:

she want to be good leader,

At the most basic level, a leader is someone who leads other. But what makes someone a leader? What is it about being a leader that some people understand and use to their advantage? What can you do to be a leader? Here's what you need to know and do.

A leader is a person who has a vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve that vision, and the skills to make it happen. Let's look. A leader has a vision. Leaders see a problem that needs to be fixed or a goal that needs to be achieved. It may be something that no one else sees or simply something that no one else wants to tackle. Whatever it is, it is the focus of the leader's attention and they attack it with a single-minded determination.

Trait & Skills a Leader Must Have
: There are things that set leaders apart from other people. Some people are born with these characteristics. Others develop them as they improve as leaders. These are not magic bullets. They are things you can do and be if you want to be a leader.[/h]

There are as many traits of a leader as there ae lists of what makes a leader. Here are the fundamental traits of a leader from my perspective

1- Has integrity. People have to believe that you are pursuing your dream because it's the right thing to do, not just because you are ego driven.

2-Is a people person. Understands the differences that make people unique and is able to use those individual skills to achieve the goal.

3-Is positive. A leader encourages and rewards people and makes you want to do it and do it right. A leader is not a negative person and doesn't waste time and effort tellng everyone what they're doing wrong.

There are specific skills someone must master if they are want to be a leader.

Effective communication /

it's more than just being able to speak and write. A leader's communication must move people to work toward the goal the leader has chosen.

Motivation /

a leader has to be able to motivate everyone to contribute. Each of us has different "buttons". A leader knows how to push the right buttons on everyone to make them really want to do their best to achieve the leader's goal.

Planning /

the leader has a plan to achieve the goal. He/she doesn't get too bogged down in the details, that's what managers are for, but rather uses a high level plan to keep everyone moving together toward the goal.

That is very well done! I agree with you. Being a good leader will make you a good manager as well. I believe in leading by example and using each individuals strengths to develop a good team.
