Weight Gain Blues :(

Published

Did you gain weight from your first nursing job? I just slipped on a pair of jeans and they are feeling snug :( I look in the mirror and see the beginnings of a double chin and fuller cheeks happening. I have been working for less than half a year and have already started packing on the pounds. I just have become increasingly less motivated to workout and eat right.

This is so frustrating...

Did you gain weight from your first job? How much? Insights? Help?

It doesn't help that I work an off shift too which somehow seems to be more draining then when I work a regular day shift.

I don't want to be lumbering down the halls ... help.

My friend has a husband who is fitness savvy (he was 1976 runner up for Mr. Georgia). They have six kids and their 12 year old was getting rather portly and he started making her jump rope everyday for a couple of minutes. No change in eating habits (I did hear him tell her sacastically you sure need that! as she went for a second piece of cake.) Anyway, she has slimmed down drastically just from doing this over the last couple of months.

It sounds easy but I doubt I could even get off the ground to skip a rope anymore or else I'd fall through the floor.

Jumping rope burns a lot of calories. You can burn about 100 calories in 5 mins. Running is another high calorie burner. Both are excellent ways to deal with stress at work, and get your body back in shape :)

I gained just about 10lbs for every level that I was in school and there were 5levels...... I let you do the math. Now since my 1st job isn't really stressful I have lost almost 10lbs and working on getting the rest off.

I gained 10lbs when I started my QA job. I just sit in front of the computer and snack. I hope starting my school nursing job will help me lose a few lbs. I'll have more time to exercise and won't be sitting down as much... at least I don't think I will. :)
