3 weeks to wait, do I keep studying?

At the time I thought that I had failed. As each day goes by I become more confident but I can't forget how I felt at the time.

It stopped at 75 so if I passed, great. But if I failed then I really failed. I wouldn't have even been close to the passing standard or it would have kept going.

Do I start to study now? Should I give myself (and my boyfriend) a break? I don't even know what to study as I don't think anything could have prepared me for that exam!!

Give yourself a break!

Mine stopped at 75 also (in June) and like you I thought I possibly failed. But, I did some research and found out that 90% of the people pass at 75 questions. So, like you said you would have had to fail real bad for the computer to not keep going & the likely hood is only 10%.

IF you didn't pass you'd have to wait a few months to re-take it, soooooo you could resume studying if need be after you get your results. That's my 2 cents at least!

Thanks!

A break sounds good to me. It still is weird having all this spare time!! I just wish it didn't take so long to find out. It's like mental torture, I can't stop thinking about it.

Hopefully I'm one of the 90%!!!

Thanks again Dijmart. You've helped make me feel better!!

Ditto, give yourself a break and try to relax, Know it is hard whilst waiting for results but get out there and do something good and different. Good luck

No problem!

.....been there done that and I only had to wait 3 days to find out, not 3 weeks...YIKES! That "IS" torture!!!

.....But I agree w/ the other poster to do something to get your mind off it. Have you looked for a job yet? If not, now's a good time!

Good Luck

Hiii Cali, we're on the same boat. I took the exam Sept 18. Computer stopped at 75, I feel so dumb and down after the exam. Now, i'm still waiting for the result and all I can do is to pray & pray. My table is mess up with books, reading materials but I don't wanna fix mess till I get the result. All i do these past few days is to play with my daughters gameboy & watch Mr. Bean cds & Disney adventures.

Oh lifeeee, waiting period is the hardest part as they say and its true. But come what may, lets just hope & pray that we pass the exam. God Bless!!!

Dijmart, I qualified as an RN 4 years ago and I have been dreaming about working (and playing) in California since 3rd year at uni. I was going to wait until I passed the exam before I looked for a job over there as I heard it was easier 2 get one if you had already passed.

It has been 6 days since I sat the exam so I've got another 3 weeks to wait but I think the 1st couple of days were the hardest!!

Thanks to your help I have just put away all of my books and I have thrown away my notes. My rationalization for throwing away my notes was that if I did fail my notes must of sucked so I'll need new ones.

Pisceanbabe74, I feel much better since putting the books away.

Thanks guys. x

Still got a long wait ahead of you as all foreign nurses are currently stuck in retrogression and no idea how long it will last, hence a lot of employers at the moment are not taking foreign nurses on. Check out the International forum for more info, also a few UK nurses meet in the chat room from 8pm every Tuesday night (UK time) if you fancy joining us

Thanks Silverdragon102,

A 4 week wait after waiting 16 weeks for my eligibility. It's just as well that I don't have an employer standing by. Including the Visa, it could now take 2+ years. Is it worth it? I hope so.

It will be in the end I have already been waiting since approval last Oct 06 and no idea when things will move, so expect a long wait

hhhmmmm, I live in the U.S. (Madison, Ohio) and honestly until reading the posts here I didn't know there was a visa problem, retrogression, ect.....I feel bad for all of you who would like to come here and are stalled in the process.

I did "alittle" research to get a very basic understanding of what you're talking about and it does seem as though it will take years for visa #'s to become available unless something changes w/ our system or they pass a bill to allow R.N.'s an "exception to the rule".

Anyway, on another note for future reference, I wanted to comment about California, since I have been there and I have family that lives there. Yes, salaries are higher there BUT that's because the cost of living is "absurd" and the R.N. salaries really don't balance it out either! For example-My grandparents owned their own business and had a nice big 4 bedroom house in Ohio and when they moved to California all they could afford was a teeny tiny little apartment to rent...!

Yes, some of California is beautiful and the weather is nice......I'd probably move there myself if it wasn't for the cost of living, namely housing & taxes. That's one reason it costs sooooo much to live there...so that everyone in the U.S. doesn't decide one day to pick up and move there.

Personally I would rather have a nice house, car, ect. to show for my hard work, then nice weather......just my 2 cents, so don't shoot me.

You've made a good point Dijmart and I do agree with you but where I live, Edinburgh, we can sell our 2 bed flat and buy a 1-2 bed apartment with a pool, gym, balcony and an outside area. There are some beautiful National parks, beaches and most of all shops! Edinburgh is expensive to live in and part of the reason for going to America is to get paid more and in turn have more disposable income. I do appreciate that of all the American states California probably isn't the best one to pick if more disposable income is what I want. But I left half my heart in San Diego (and a little of it in LA so what can I do)?

The way it's going though I think my boyfriend will have me in Australia even before I get a Visa interview for the US.
