Only three weeks now before i leave Australia to come and work in the UK. I'm going travelling a bit first then will start work in may with an agency and see from there what i want to do. I'm starting off in London and have been looking at the prices of accomodation and am very sad :crying2:

Other than that, I'm looking forward to it. leaving here in summer and arriving in time for summer in UK :coollook:

Aussie summer to UK summer... should be just a bit wetter than your winter! At least you'll be here once we go onto summer time.

I hope you have a great flight, and welcome to the UK.

I have an umbrella. It is in top condition. I have had it for about 11 years now. That is how often it rains out here. brolleys last a very long time. I think I use it once every third or forth year. Poor brolly will go into shock.

starting off in london hey? hope you like to read. you'll go through loads of books on the tube! i did.

last i heard, summer this year is gonna be hot hot hot

there's loads of aussies working in london, maybe you could get in on a house share, you're accomodation will be a bit cheaper then.

hope all the travelling goes well. good luck and welcome to the uk for when you get here. :kiss

London is one of the more expensive places to live. Welcome to uk. :) :balloons:

:) Hi there,

Good luck moving over to the UK.

What everyone says is true about the UK, especially London.

There is a real shortage of nurses generally but especially in the London

area.

Accomodation will be expensive but the further you live away from the

centre the cheaper it will be.

Certain "desirable" areas can be expensive anywhere .

Are you working for an agency?

If your working for a trust could they subsidize your living expenses, like I said there is a shortage of nurses, they should be able to offer something.

Some good agencies to register with are Mayfair and Thornbury. They pay excellant rates of pay, particularly in London.

If you moved to other parts of the UK housing would be alot cheaper.

Good luck and have a safe journey.

Diane.

Hi, thanks, I have been looking at the undesirable areas and it's still expensive!! Funnily enough, I planned to move out of london after about 3 months ans was considering going to Scotland as well. I also was looking at leeds, they have a large hospital base.

Hi

I live not far from Leeds and they have a good training hospitals, plus it is very central so you can visit most places within the UK without too much trouble plus cost of living is better than London

Hi there,

It is getting increasing more difficult to find cheap accomodation anywhere in the UK.

If it is cheap it could be that its so bad to live there they'll ask a low price to attract anyone!! Becareful!!

If you can find accomodation in typical "student" areas like central Nottingham. The Queens medical centre is HUGE!!!. There would be loads of work there!! Sharing a house in this situations say other nurses or medical students would be as cheap and cheerful as it gets. Without knowing an area it is hard!

As Silverdragon102 says they know that area quite well so people can give there advice based on fact.

Good luck.

Diane.
