Hey all,
I am looking for a weekend RN position, preferably 1st shift in the Burlington, WI. area. I am looking for a long term care facility, especially a rehab unit, for post op knees, hips etc.
I wasn't sure where to post this , any thoughts/ideas are appreciated.
Thank you!

I'm a certified rehab RN in the south eastern WI area. There are not a lot of weekend programs around here. No nursing shortage so they don't really need to get too creative with staffing. You'd have more luck with part time with an every other weekend obligation. You could try Aurora but I'd not recommend them.

Have you worked WE option before? It is not as great as it sounds if you have family or any other kind of life. Every family gathering is on Sat for the kids that are in school, If you are single- all your friends get together on thier weekends to have a good time- you are always at work. Any faith beliefs?- you'll never get through another service without falling asleep. You are first called EVERY DAY when they are short during the week- 'cause you are WE option and get paid so much already and have all that time free. If you are FT 12hr shift- you can work a 6day -off the max-then another 6day and have a nice vacation without burning any time off- on WE option- you never have more than 5 off in a row. These are in addition to the stated additional costs of being a WE nurse- shift diff, benifit cost, tuition reibursment loss, restricted bidding rights, vacation time restrictions, .... Every program is different but it isn't all a tip-toe through the tulips.
By the way - every one you work with is jealous of you because "you have it made" with your cushy WE option.

I agree. It sounds better then it really is. I did it for about a year. The best perk was I worked 2 12 hour shifts a week and got paid a full time wage. At the time I didn't have much of a choice so I did it.
The best part was there were no magnment around, when I worked a weekday, the administrator, instead of coming up to me and asking who I was, asked someone else who I was. And then ******* me out because I didn't make coffee. So I did, and then she dumped it out. I think I created life in that coffee pot.
Well anyway,
It worked for a while, I had five days off in a row, I was home during the week for my children, but on weekends I never saw them and that started to become an issue. We couldn't do anything as a family.
We can never seem to win as working mothers!:)
Wow, no one knows why this person wants to work weekends.
Perhaps she has no religion and doesn't have to make time for that activity. Maybe no kids, or very young kids who will be cared for by her partner on the weekend, allowing her to be with them during the week, thus not having to rely on or spend dollars she doesn't have on daycare. Perhaps the kids are older and now live away from home. Maybe one of those kids is struggling to make it and she wants to be able to help financially.
If married, perhaps her partner is long term unemployed and she needs to work as much as is humanly possible so that they do not lose their home or default on other payments that were easily made while the partner was employed. Maybe she has worked as hard as she can all her life and now has to work harder and longer because some life catastrophe has brought her or someone close to her to the edge of financial ruin.
Maybe the person is single and has friends who also work weekends and she wants to get in sync with them. Maybe she wants to work weekends and get the biggest buck for her working time AND then have more time to pursue something very important: an advanced degree or a second career as an artist. Maybe she doesn't care that some coworkers are so devoid of a life of their own that they harbor bad feelings about her supposedly cushy life.
Maybe she wants to work extra for a year and save all that money for a once-in-a-life vacation.
Slept late; out of imagination; time for coffee.
