[color=#2f4f4f]ok, first day of class has officially ended, but my work has not! we have a test next thursday on 6 chapters in nursing fundamentals and a test in drug cal. next tuesday over the first 3 chapters. i did feel a sigh of relief when someone asked if we were going to be using calculators in the exam and she answered with a yes! i am so excited. i've already read the first chapter of fundamentals and began outlining tidbits that are important information to remember. diet & nutrition, to my surprise, is online only! i am at the school from 8am to 2:15pm on monday-thursday and have fridays off! we'll start clinical check offs soon and cpr certification, clinicals will not take place until early march, but i can't wait! oh...and our scrubs have to be white...booooo! we do not get to wear navy blue until our last semester of the program! oh well, i have lots to do! i will try to squeeze some time on here later tonight, hope you all had a wonderful day! :)

hey everyone! so i am finished with week one of my 11.5 month lpn program, and geez oh pete's have i been reading!! today we finished the first unit in our fundamentas book, we are still doing skills check off since we are all cna's, i had a report due today on florence nightingale's nursing theory and a math test!! phew!!
next we we have a documentation presentaion, a project on pt teaching and refresher from hg&d. i am really excited about the pt teaching project. we get to pick anything non-medical related and teach the skill or inform the class of it. i am thinking of teaching the class how to apply lip gloss or how to add flavor to water... something fun ya know? one of the girls are thinking about informing the class on the different types of tequilla! in four weeks we will have our first hesi test, so thats something. i must sa, when i was reading posts on previous nsg students school gripes,i thought wow ihope my fundamentals class isn't as boring....wrong!!
boy oh boy is it boring!!! if it wasn't the first class of the day i dont think it would be too boring but, it makes you want to fall back asleep! my instructor tries to spruce it up but it doesnt work.
i really like how she is already referring to us as nurses. today she told us to throw out our cna frame of mind ( which was easy for me since i only took the boards to do the class in november) and that we need to start thinking as nurses.
when i got florence as my nurse theorist i was kinda bummed. i have been hearing about her even before i wanted to become a nurse. everyone in my class got someone i had never heard of before. but it was funny because when eveyone read thier paper i realized that all thier theorist were just pretty much a poor mans' florence. it was interesting to hear that all these n.t's all have the same common theory when it comes down to it. they just go about wanting it a different way. i liked the fact that florence was against the classification of nurses. i think just pursuing the your education to do more in-depth work is a status of it's own.
oh well.... sorry for the long post. i promised i would come back on and inform . hope to hear from your first week(s) soon.
