Dianah hope your DH is feeling better

Stars glad it was a quiet and productive day

Ado hope the storms proved minor

Tweety glad the hurricane is going to miss you

Was a good day at work despite getting a new case.  Found out our supervisor is stepping down but someone else will be taking her place shortly

After work was busy, stopped at the vet's office for medication, the grocery store, and the library.  And exercised once I got home.

Was annoyed with the cat, went to the bedroom to get ready for bed and found that she had vomited rather extensively.  The cleaning took quite a while.  Was a large hairball too, hopefully with that gone this will settle down.  Will have to be diligent with the hairball medication

Tonight have dinner with the over 50 group

Weather will be in the mid 70s, after raining much of the last 2 days we'll have some dry weather

Well I cussed at the clock again this morning....not because the alarm was set, but because 'the big hand and the little hand' were indicating 11 AM. Hips are achey, took my meds and went back to bed for an hour. Momo was 'rowdy' last night, she kept coming up on top of my hips and wagging her tail like she wanted something. I think it was about 3 AM when she finally quieted down and went under the covers to sleep. It wasn't the thunder storm that was bothering her, because it only lasted an hour, from midnight to 1 AM.

Temps today will be mid-80's, sun is shining; more rain predicted for tonight and tomorrow and Friday. Don't know if the storm is going to circle back around, but from what I saw on line this morning, it may not be as 'bad' as they said it might be, in the weather report from last night. Who knows. It will be what it will be.

I have to get Nannie up now as it is 1 PM. She has had her meds and then at some point used the spoon to remove those 'funny lumps' from her mouth....I found them neatly deposited in the bottom of the yogurt cup! I scooped them up with the spoon and gave her a glass of water....after she got them in her mouth, she started to pucker her lips like she was going to spit them out again. I said "NO!" and told her to swallow them....had to say it 3x before she actually swallowed them. Gotta watch that girl! I don't think she is trying to get rid of, or not take the meds, but she must think they are something else to want to spit them out. She must tuck them under her tongue or inside cheek to be able to find them to spit out....I mean, she ate drank all her cran-juice AND Boost, AND ate the yogurt before the pills showed up in the bottom of the yogurt cup. (Another 'OY!' ) Tricky! Now I have to double check every time she gets meds; I sure don't want her spitting out that magic 1/2 tab of Lexapro that makes her nap!

.....Did I mention that I had to disimpact her again yesterday evening? It came out more easily, but there was a LOT! I think the extra fluids and lots of fruit helped some. ("I am just an ol' plumber's daughter....") I won't be giving her any enemas, but I may switch her to a daily laxative in the AM and the stool softener in the evening. It's either that or Rotor-Rooter....(  🎼🎵🎶...'and away goes trouble down the drain!')

Will have to go out and pick up more underpads; between Nannie and Momo, they really go through 'em! Also we are out of yogurt, low on cran juice. Gotta see if I can find some of those "Good Dog / Happy Puppy" treats...they are salmon and lamb, and soft to chew, and Momo really likes them. AND they are only 2 calories each.

I am on my second cup of coffee. Have to call the vet's office to set up an appt for the DHLP and Parvo shot(s?) and to have her toenails trimmed again. They grow so fast, and are catching on the rug when she walks. *I* will not cut her nails because you can't SEE where the 'quick' is and I don't want to hurt her or cause her to bleed! Next time God sends me one of His dogs I am going to request clear-ish toenails so the quick can be seen, and THEN *I* can cut them! She still hasn't lost any weight, so I dunno, but she is supposed to get spayed (at 8 years of age) and the vet said she had to lose weight before they can fix her. I dread that, as she will have to wear 'the cone of shame' and I don't think she'll do well with that....OR the instructions to keep her still and not let her jump or twist around (which she does prior to her breakfast and the bedtime snack.) How do you keep a chihuahua from being a chihuahua?

Anywayzzzz, It is now 2 PM. Not sure if Nannie will nap, or if I will have to take her out in the car while I go get the things at the store. See? That's the problem here.... SOMEONE has to be with her during the day, and I am not at 'my leisure' to take care of things like I might if I could just spontaneously get up and go. Then even the errands are not brief 'time off', because I have to listen to her remark about the traffic and the houses (some of which she says she used to live in, but she didn't). Oh well, ONE OF THESE days she has GOT to get into the Senior Daycare Center, or SiL and BiL will have to find another person to spell me and spare me from feeling so smothered with Nannie-care.

I don't know if any of you watch America's Got Talent, as none of you have ever mentioned it. Last night the two acts I liked the best from way back at the beginning of the season, came in as finalists, and the guy I wanted most to win.....did win! He's a tubby old guy with teeth missing, he worked as a janitor in an elementary school, but he has an absolutely beautiful, clear voice and used to sing while he was on the job, after classes let out for the day. He also seems to be quite humble and have just the BIGGEST heart, too. I was so happy when they announced he won, I jumped up, cheering and clapping. Nannie thought I was nuts, but I don't care. It really made my day to see him win! The rock group JOURNEY came to play backup for him on the song "Forever Yours". It gave me goose-bumps!

Time to stop yapping. I THINK Nannie is drifting off, so I may be able to hop out to do the errands.

Laydah, you'n's!

Plan B is in effect. Nannie is sleeping, but I went upstairs to gather and bag stuff.....for donating to the animal shelter, and to the thrift shop. Also what goes to the trash and to recycle on Friday. I have several items I have to consult with SiL or BiL about sending to the dump. I put labels on the bags, folded quilts, and collapsed a dozen+too many old cardboard boxes to get rid of them. I mean how many boxes do ya need to save 'just-in-case' ??

Right now I am taking a break. I decided I can get what's needed ... tomorrow; we can get through another day without them.  I found enough underpads to use until we can restock tomorrow. I think SiL is working or has her grand-dgt w/ her today. Haven't heard anything from her, so I dunno. She does a lot of part-time jobs....the ABC store, doing hair at a nursing home, running around for her mother, baby-sitting etc, etc. I told her she needs to slow down and off-load some of her tasks or she will burn out! Her MRI isn't until the 8th of October. She says it feels better (relatively, anyway) if she up and doing things. But I don't feel right about piling more on her, tho' she had said sometime-back-aways that she would be re-supplying all the stuff for Nannie, but that's not working out dependably.

Didn't 'do' the kitchen floor last night, and so far have not been inspired to do so today. I have planted some lavender seeds that are in a roll that you can cover with potting soil and then water....it hasn't been too many days yet, and I don't know when to expect any shoots to show up. It certainly has been rained on copiously, so maybe I should put the planter under the deck? Would hate to drown the seeds. I'll have to step outside and see what's what.

Hello all!

Joe, it's always something with the cats, yes?  (and "it" is usually vomit!)  Good you got it all cleaned up, and also that your cat got rid of that hairball!

No Stars, I am TOTALLY unqualified to offer any advice on seedlings or growing things, so hopefully someone else will pipe up with suggestions for your lavender seeds.  Oooooo, Naughty Nannie, not swallowing her meds!!  Tsk, tsk!  I hope Chatty CG doesn't call off tomorrow, so you can get the re-stocking run done.  Yah, the kitchen floor will be there tomorrow and possibly the next day, too, so no worries there.  😉

We have had clear skies and temps in the upper 80's the last few days.  I walked yesterday evening with my friend.  One brownie point for me!  HOWEVER, then deduct FIVE brownie points for later, as I was driving home, I mis-calculated my turn into the driveway and HIT,  really HIT!  the curb.  An alarm immediately sounded, and the dashboard showed the four tires, with proper inflation in three of the four, and the right front tire with inflation of 2 (the others were at 36 each)!  Yup!  I popped the tire on the curb!

I parked the car in the driveway, and went in to fill in dh on the sad details.  We came out with flashlights and inspected the damage.  Whew!!  What a relief!!  It was only flat on the bottom!  (wink wink)

So, this morning I got up earlier than usual, and called the tire place (if you recall, I JUST had purchased and had them installed, about 2-3 weeks ago!), who said they would look for us to arrive with the car.  Well, we called and got it towed there (~3 miles away) on a flatbed truck.  And they replaced the tire, and re-aligned the car.  BUT, the strut on that right-hand side had apparently been bent, so it needed to be replaced.  And, they recommended replacing both front struts at once, so they would wear the same.  So, some 3 hours later (yah, and a chunk of change to boot), I drove out of the tire place.  Well, I'm a better driver than I exhibited last night.  But as dh and I agreed, things happen; distractions happen.  And it's all done, now, and we just have to pay down the credit card.  Again.  (yes, Tweety, you are not the only one these things happen to!! 😉 )

On the way home I stopped to get some Vietnamese sandwiches for dh (he likes them or a burrito for lunch), and I got us some smoothies: mango with boba for him, avocado smoothie for me.  Not that I need the sugar and calories, but I got it and drank it, OK!!?  It's not a daily thing.  🙂

We were asked to play some music at a friend's graveside service in mid-October.  He was a dear man, and we miss him.  We'll talk with his wife later, about what songs we might do.

So, that's it from here.  Have a good afternoon and evening!

Yep, it's always something.

It rained off and on all day here. I went to the demo garden, but left early. I was going to meet sisters for lunch, but they weren't feeling up to it. So I came home and took a nap with the pups. I just got back from the grocery store. Traffic was stupid. People running stop signs, running red lights, and generally driving without looking.
Looking forward to a massage tomorrow. Dogs make plenty of mischief, but no hair balls.

It is indeed always something. Especially with cats and cars!

Hubs was up to his elbows under the hood of the Jeep when I got home and he wanted to finish what he was doing so he didn't go to choir practice with me. I've been hiding out in my room since I got home from that. Twin A either has a cold or his allergies are severe. I might go load the dishwasher and then call it a night.

Oh, and I love the smell of lavender. Your roll of seeds sounds interesting, Stars.

Here is what I found on the internet about lavender seeds:

They need cold stratification, that is, they need a cold environment for 3 - 6 weeks after planting. Keep them slightly moist, and in a plastic bag.

Then bring them out to a sunny warm spot, misting them on top. They can take up to a month to germinate (wow).

I don't think 'cold stratification' is gonna happen....nor the 3-6 weeks of cold, nor a plastic bag! I just moved the planter under the deck so they don't drown. Best I can do!
