Hello all!
Joe, I've forgotten, do you work from home?
We drove to Disneyland yesterday, to get our steps in -- which we did: 10,400 steps, over four miles! Yay us! It was only 72 degrees, which was perfect, and we really enjoyed walking and talking with ppl. We got to see our favorite bands (one in each park), and enjoy the Dapper Dans, presenting their arrangements of songs to fit the Halloween season. Had a good meal at our fave restaurant in the Grand Californian Hotel. Since the sun is setting earlier, we got to see the evening lights in Disneyland. California Adventure closed to "regular" attendees at 6pm, for one of their Oogie Boogie Bash nights. At 3pm, they began admitting those with the special tickets for that event, so we got to enjoy seeing all the people in their wonderful costumes pour into the park! VERY entertaining!
I slept well last night and am ready for the day. I need to get gas in the car, and also go by the cemetery where we will do music on Friday, for our friend's graveside service. Need to know where to go, and his wife said it was on a slight hill, so need to check out the incline, as we bring our own chairs to sit on while we play.
Have a good day! Here are some photos from Disneyland:
The castle on a cloudy morning (the clouds cleared by 2pm; and yes, the Christmas season snow is already applied):
The Strawhatters on Main Street:
Cadillac Peaks in Cars Land (I got a glimpse of one of the cars, racing by):
Decorations in Cars Land:
The Mark Twain, with lights on:
The Halloween Tree, an ordinary tree that they decorate at Halloween time!
Last night when I went to get on-line and finish up the day, my laptop was wonky again, and I was not a bit happy. It said I had the networks, but when I tried to get on Yahoo or Google, I'd get a grey screen and the dern thing kept 'loading, loading, loading' and never went to where it was supposed to. I just plugged it back in to charge, and prayed it would come back on the right way! Then this morning I got a message that said my WiFi and the rest of it was "all restored and back on line", so WHEW! I wasn't looking forward to another day without my laptop, and I'm glad it was the provider and it wasn't MY laptop messing up again!
Our high today is only going to be 60 degrees. Right now it is cloudy, but I don't think it will be that way all the rest of the day....it doesn't much matter to me.
Almost time to get the Nannie-person up and out of bed, give her the meds and breakfast and hope that 1/2 Lexapro is a fat half, because that makes her nap nicely in the afternoons.
I called the vet's office, and I can just do a drop-in to get Momo's horrendously long nails trimmed, and make an appt for her to get her shot next week after the SS comes in and I can pay for it. The nails will only cost $16, and I wish I could do it myself, but Momo sez that's a "NO GO!" So I will leave it to the professionals! If she doesn't sleep, I guess she would be thrilled to be able to go out in the car, like she always is. One of the very first things she says to me in the mornings is, "Am I going out today?" 🙄
BiL called me last night and said he would bring my check for Nannie-Care sometime today. I can use it, because I found out, I think I mentioned this, that Care Credit wants the full balance paid off right after a bill comes in, and I only paid half of it last month. Anyway, I will prolly go to the bank to deposit it. Then when SS check comes I can watch the checking balance go down, down, down, after the auto-withdrawal bill- payments gobble a lot of it up. Ah, well, at least I DO get a SS check!
Have to stop dithering around and get that MiL up like I am 'posta.
PS: Thanks for the photos, dianah, I enjoyed seeing them!
Ha! Tomorrow is Thursday, so (IF!) Chatty CG comes like she's scheduled to do, I will be able to go out and take care of stuff while she is here and I won't have to take Nannie with me. So, that's what I'm gonna do! I'd say "I love it when a plan works out"....BUT, I'm afraid I will jinx it if I say that!
BiL just stopped by with my check (I wish they'd bump it up by $100/mo.) but I will go to the bank tomorrow to deposit it.
Psst: Nannie is closing her eyes, so she may be on her way to a good snooze. If she does, there's indoor tasks I can tackle. So, don't wake her up, please!
G'day.
Best friend is officially moved in. Probably for many months.
I have someone coming next week to give me an estimate on roof repairs. I heard from my insurance but not estimate as to when someone will come by and do an assessment and tell me what'scovered. They are way behind.
I tried to normalize my day and meal prep and go to the gym.
Nice pics Dianah!
My late BiL was an insurance claims adjuster and would sometimes go work in areas where there had been storms and such because the insurance companies were overwhelmed and would pay $$$ for extra help.
Nice photos, dianah! Looks like a nice day.
We had an ... um ... exciting evening. I left work at 5:38. At 5:42 I got a call from our Admissions manager about a Jane Doe brought in by ambulance, very confused older lady. At home, Hubs told me his mom had left the house earlier and he found her sitting in the yard and took her back in and put her "down for a nap." We then left for choir practice, leaving Twin B to mind his grandmother. Or so we thought. At 6:30, Hubs' phone was ringing and out pastor, who was sitting next to me, pointed out that mone was, too. I answered and it was one of our ER nurses asking if my MiL's name was Phyllis. Yep, Gma was picked up by ambulance and taken to the hospital. It appears she went out again shortly after Hubs thought he had her settled in bed. Twin B was still asleep at that point and Hubs was in the driveway so she must have gone out the back door. She had finally said her last name and the nurse was able to put 2+2 together to figure out she must be my MiL. She's fine. She'd pooped her pants (probably that's why she got up from bed).
*sigh*
Awwww, Ado, glad your MiL is OK and now home safe.
Tweety, I'm sure anyone who works for insurance agencies, in any way at all, is VERY busy right now. 😞
Quiet day. I read some. Made some Keto White Chicken Chili, it's simmering on the stove now and smells good! Cleaned the stove. Not much to report today!
Have a good evening!

NJ22 glad your MIL is home, hope the repairs don't prove costly
Tweety glad the power is back on, hope internet comes back soon
Ado haven't made white chili in a long time, might have to look up the recipe
Work started off rather rushed, as we had a meeting and I had a new case. Hurried through the morning, and cut lunch a bit short as the meeting ran long, but the afternoon was more relaxed. By the end of the day was able to take it easy
After work was pretty quiet, just went grocery shopping and exercised.
Nothing unusual going on today, either at work or after it
Going to be a bit warmer today, up to the upper 50s
