Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good day. Home prices here are outrageous but the labor and parts for building a new home would be outrageous as well. I find that out just doing a bathroom.
Ado, when does the move happen again? We are going through some extensive remodeling in the hospital I work for but thought they should just tear it down and use some land next door to us that is vacant to build a new one. But at least we're finally getting some upgrades. The people that bought us two years ago are serious about their investment in us.
Stars, I'm sure the doctor's visit will be nothing but harsh reality for your husband. Like I said you've been there before. If he does go through with quitting drinking, and I hope he does, it will be unpleasant physically and emotionally. A very labile time, but on the other end it can be so great. Nothing feels like sobriety.
We set out two hours ahead of the show and I missed my exit and had to turn around. GPS took us through some horrible traffic at the venue only to have them tell us "this is reserved parking and the free parking is down the road". By then traffic was a standstill and we had out dinner in the car. Instead of tofu they have a vegan turkey sub that was actually pretty good. We missed the opening act and arrived just as Stevie Nicks came out THREE HOURS after we left my house. But she was amazing. She looked great and sounded just like it was 1975. She sang all her hits and a new one or two. Love it.
Took today off because I knew I'd be late getting home last night and it was indeed after midnight when I got home. I slept extremely well for a change.
Going to do some odds and ends and meal prep for the week.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Tweety, the move is 1 week from today, Nov 2. We had originally planned it for midnight but now we're planning for 6 a.m. This makes more sense as it is the shift change for the ER doctors. One can stay at the old location while one goes to the other and overlap long enough to get all patients transferred. If we're lucky, there will be no ER patients at that time but you never know. And Med/Surg -- well, yesterday we started the day with 6 and today it's 3. Again, you never know. We'll get am labs early so that lab can process them and then move and set up their equipment (some equipment is new and is all ready to go at the new location). The next time we do any scopes or eye surgeries will be in the new facility.
It's overcast and not too warm yet, but we are supposed to hit 75 today.
Hubby was already up when I got up; he'd been up for an hour. He came into my room and just sat, staring at things without seeing them. Nerves. Said his last drink was last night. He asked again about the Librium and when he should start taking it. On the bottle it says 2 capsules every 8 hours for three days, then one every 8 hours for three days. I told him that once he started taking it, he has to continue with it and no more drinking at all. I'm not sure how 2 capsules will hit him, but I reckon he shouldn't drive, but it's okay today, as I am the designated driver, and probably will be the one to make sure he takes that med ON TIME, even if it means waking him up. // He is taking a shower and shaving right now. Good, because he needs something to do to pass the time; we won't be leaving for an hour yet.
Yeah, I'll come by here later to update about things.
YIKES! Just read there was a 5.1 quake sort of near San Fran. My blase' brother probably would say "pooh-pooh, it wasn't that strong, and I slept through it." ....But I don't think he's anywhere near where it happened, so I'm not askin'!
Now I have to decide whether to leave Nannie in bed or go get her up and install her in her recliner before we go. She has been known to sleep until the mid-afternoon, so she'll be okay regardless of what I decide. Bah. All this being a responsible adult sometimes is a real pain in the patoot!
Okay, I'm setting the laptop aside until later.
Dr's office is going to set up an appt w/ the gut-doc, as PCP wants him to go get information re the two spots on his pancreas. If hubby starts Librium taper today, he has to go back to the PCP q3days. When we got out of the office, I said, "hold out your hand and I'll give you the first 2 capsules." Well. hubby decided after today's appt, he was going to go straight to the liquor store for...(?) 3 little bottles of vodka. He said he is a grown man and he is the one who will decide when to start the taper. As of now, he said he will take the first two capsules tonight. Then it's 2 caps TID (doc said that breakfast, lunch and dinner for the times will be fine.) with follow-up appt's on Friday, then again on Tuesday, etc.
Time will tell. He did say that if hubby started drinking again, and finds he can't do this on his own, but still wants to detox, he may have to go to a hospital rehab....
Nothing was said about his left lung pleura, so maybe it isn't as full as hubby thinks it might be. But that is a separate issue.
Also a separate issue is the "what can we do with Nannie?"---placement-wise.
She got herself up out of bed while we were gone, and was sitting in the recliner, dry and dressed when we got back. She had her Subway Sandwich, and a yogurt/raspberry cookie from Subway, for dessert.
Gosh, it is already 4 PM. Nannie's lunch was eaten at 3 PM and I ate the contents of a Wild Salmon packet at that time, so I hope hubby doesn't get in his supper-quandry, because I can't imagine either Nannie or I will be hungry for supper within the next hour.
OH WELL! (Life's tough, get a helmet!)
And, of course, the two others here (you know who!) are doing their afternoon "nap in the recliners" thing. Hubby says he doesn't understand how I can go all day without napping, especially since I go to bed QUITE late! But, I do sleep well, anywhere between 6 + 9 hours....probably don't need to nap because I don't drink, AND I'm not 93 years old!
I'm cautiously hopeful, Stars.
Hubs naps. Says he gets really sleepy about 2:30 pm and usually naps for a little less than an hour. Me, I can sleep almost any time and I do get sleepy if I'm not actively engaged in something, especially on a warm sunny afternoon (or a cool one, when I can wrap up in a blanket). I worry that if I actually retire some day that I'll have terrible sleep habits, like my sister does.
I'm in a Zoom meeting at work, and as usual, OCD coworker has talked for nearly 30 minutes, nonstop. So much for having a discussion with a community partner. I did have a nice run this morning, and dh is promising to "take care of dinner tonight" which means it will be like No Stars, he will ask me what I want to eat and he will go pick it up. A subway sandwich sounds good. The sky is overcast, threatening rain, but the wind from yesterday has died down.
I like naps, but I often get up at 530 or 6. Most of the time 30 minutes is sufficient. I started a new med last month that I think was contributing, but I think I have grown tolerant of that. dh naps a lot, but he has sleep apnea and refuses to wear his CPAP, so he is seldom well rested.
NoStars, I can't say I'm surprised by the MD visit. Hang in there, girl. I wish I was physically there to give you a hand.
Annie, the move sounds exciting but nerve-wracking. I hope your census is low!
Hi Dianah and Joe!
Hello all!
Am following your saga, No Stars. I HOPE your dh decides he WILL begin the taper tonight! I suppose he wants to feel like he has control over SOMETHING. We all have precious little control over anything, truth be told. Hugs to you.
Ado, wow, one week till the hospital moves! Scary yet exciting!
Tweety, glad you enjoyed the concert! Driving in all the concert traffic is discouraging to me. I guess that's why I've not been to many concerts... But, again, so glad you enjoyed it and that it was a good one!
Hello Joe and nursej22!
I slept terribly last night. Woke up at 1:30 and awake till after 6. Allergies attacked, and I was blowing my nose frequently, and sneezing. So, I just got up from a one-hour nap. My friend and I will go walking today, at 4pm. Didn't want to be tired before starting that walk!
Got some blankets washed (dh helped). Last night I cut the fabric for the curtains. Got to get the machine out and get those done. And, more of the kitchen needs going-through. Sometime. ?
It's a nice 79 degrees today! and actually COOL at night (in the 60's)! So nice for a change!
Have a good afternoon/evening!
Nannie had not put on her pull-ups when she got up, was wearing just her pants. She asked me if I would help her in the bathroom (first time she's ever asked!) Fortunately, she made it to the toilet in time. But when she went to wipe herself, there was lots, LOTS of poop on the paper. I helped get her cleaned up and just as she stood, to get up off the toilet, she halted half way and said, "Something doesn't feel right back there...." and so saying, a 7 inch long, slightly larger than 3/4" in diameter, poop-rocket....shot out from between her generously-sized buttocks!
Thank goodness, it landed right in the toilet! ???

Stars it's good that he's willing to discuss a Librium taper at least, and that you're looking into community resources
Ado glad he didn't need a CABG. Hope your DH didn't get too down
NJ22 I didn't know you were training to become a gardener
Tweety that is odd that he would develop osteoporosis
Another quiet day yesterday at work, except towards the end when things picked up again. Got done on time, and was able to get to dining out with the church group on time. Was a nice place, haven't been there before. Glad we had a good turnout, this will be the last one for this year
Today have a Zoom meeting with a political group I volunteer with, then grocery shopping. Tomorrow have another Zoom meeting, this time with the vestry to discuss the new home for the minister. They sent some stuff to review before the meeting. I'll look it over, but really all I want to know is if it makes sense to buy a home rather than build one.
Was rainy yesterday. No rain expected today, will be cooler, in the mid 50s
