Hello all!
I have tapped into internet election results, which (of course) are not final. Things are going as they will go.
Yesterday we met at the little TV studio at three: dh (mandolin), me (rhythm guitar), K (fiddler) and E (lead guitarist/bassist). We didn't have a bass, used E to play lead guitar instead. We practiced about an hour, then took a short tour of the studio's newest rooms, and visited a little. Then got settled in place, and the program filmed from 6 to 7. We stayed a few minutes to thank the crew and those (CEO of the station, for one) who had invited us to play. The door is open to do more music for them, come Jan or Feb. Maybe a jam session, and they can cut-and-paste whatever they need. Oh, and they asked if we would do a couple 30-second "spots" for their fundraising drive. K and I did one, holding our instruments, and E did one.
Today we will be on the road at 11, to pick up K and head to the high desert, to E's recording studio. A friend has a few recordings in limbo in the studio, and has asked if we would add to his recordings, "the way you usually do" when we do music together (we have helped him with music on several occasions, before he retired as a pastor). This is really off-the-cuff, will see what we come up with!
We had a dilly of a storm yesterday, enjoyed it so much! Of course, we were in the house or in the TV studio most of the time, but we sure heard it come down on the roof when we were in the studio!! We get rain so rarely, it was a treat. Today it is blustery and cold but not much rain is forecast.
Joe, I usually play spider solitaire while I "watch" Star Trek. I am not as discerning as you, I'm afraid; most of the episodes are OK, to me. ? Yes, some are more *ahem* dated than others, or stranger. But I leave them on, for familiar noise.
Have a good day!
The mid-afternoon siesta is happenin' now. So what else is new?
I was sitting on the front porch around lunch time. Hubby was in the Ford. A while after I went to the end of the porch and waved to him, he finally came out to join me on the porch. He held up his right forearm and said, "Is this too awful?" A red blister-like mark about 6-8" long, and narrow. Some blood, where he had obviously rubbed it, but not actively bleeding. Did he fall? I asked, and he said he didn't exactly fall but was there any mark on his forehead above his right eye? Small abrasion. Then I noticed dried leaves on the back of his t-shirt, and got up to brush them off him, and saw three streaks of grass stain on his left back. Not wearing his glasses, so I wonder if he torqued the frame somehow, but I didn't ask. I can't figure out the grass stains on the back of his t-shirt, as the cars are parked under a carport, and his mancave (Ford) is nowhere near the grass. Oh well. I'm suspicious. I'll be on the lookout for little vodka bottles, but won't go searching them out.
He hasn't got another appt set up w/ PCP. He did say he called the office and left Dr. a message, and he said the nurse said she would tell the doctor what he (hubby) said. But I don't know what he said. I've half a mind to ask him if he's given up on detoxing the rest of the way, but I reckon if he has (because he's done nothing about procuring the 10 mg. Librium to ease down his desire for alcohol) I will be able to tell soon enough. I'm not terribly hopeful that he is going to quit. Oh well.
It is 65-ish, sunny, breezy, and quite nice. Then on Thursday and Friday we are supposed to get "two days of persistent rain."
Scanned through the city newspaper which I get on line. Some of the votes went the way I'd hoped, but most didn't. Oh well to that, too.
I had a few other things to mention, but as usual they have slipped into a corner of my brain and won't come out just now.
Mid-afternoon doldrums here at work. Weather is clear and cold, and thankfully no wind. Very nice OCD co-worker is at a TB conference in Prauge for the week so that’s a bit of a relief. While I was out she apparently offered me to do a blood draw on a 2 year old to help out another county health department, but my supervisor finally put her foot down. I’ve never drawn a child and I don’t plan to start. If the lab won’t draw it then I sure as heck won’t. I only work 2 days this week due to holiday.
Most local elections went the way I hoped, but there are still ballots to count.
Chinese sounds good. It's Wednesday, so we will have pizza so Hubs and I can make it to choir practice. There are no actual "Chinese" restaurants in town but a Thai family has opened (and then moved to better digs) a restaurant and they include some familiar dishes, presumably because most folks 'round here aren't familiar with Thai food.
dianah, sounds like a very good musical time.
I unpacked the last box in my new office today (whew). There are many things left over from the people before me and I'm unclear on exactly what needs to be retained and for how long. I do know that I can scan or otherwise digitize old data and reduce the need for storage space (did I already say this the other day?). It freaks me out a little that I have folders for the state surveys from 2012 and 2014 but that's all. I know for a fact the state has been here since 2014. Ditto with the CMS submissions. I have thick folders from 2020 and 2021 and of course my own compilations for 2022, a little something from 2018, and then nada.
Terribly disappointed in the election results in Oklahoma but what ya gonna do?
G'day.
Here in Florida where we have two republican national senators, the state house and senate in Republican hands, and the Governor, it's barely a blip on my radar that we stayed the same course on Tuesday and everyone I voted for lost except for one. I was gerrymandered out of the city to make the city republican and my district voted democrat and seriously out of a dozen votes that's the only one I voted for that got in.
While that doesn't concern me I'm concerned the school board that was elected are all conservative including one whose made Q-Anon Tweets in the past. Oh well, I have no kids or grandkids. Very disappointed in millennials around there.
Anyway, I'll save that for the political forums.
Work was steady busy and not too bad.
Have a great evening!
Yeah, heck, so frequently when I've voted, those for whom I voted didn't get elected. Makes me cynical, but oh well.
I've said this before, but it has just re-occurred to me now....it is so weird to sit in the den watching Country Music Awards (or could be any musical/vocal awards shows) and neither my MiL nor hubby move even one finger or tap one toe to the music. I can't understand if there is a catchy beat why one would not move to it AT ALL. Something kinda sad about that, doncha think?
No Stars, I agree. Can't help but appreciate or move or sing along with the music, whatever is playing!
Here is a link to the program from Tuesday night: https://www.llbn.tv/christian-connections We did two songs, one around 3 minutes in, and one around 45 min in.
Today we arrived at the studio around 12:30, just dh and I, as fiddler had something come up. She will reschedule to another time. While we did get five songs completed and two cancelled (no need for any additions), we did a lot of chatting too! Then went for Pho and was it ever good! We will return again tomorrow to complete two songs, then practice a little for a Dec 10 Christmas program (20 min). Christmas songs 1. are not done all year, so we are not in practice, and 2. are usually more complicated than most of the hymns and gospel songs we do. So, we NEED to practice! ?
Ado, I hope you can find some of those previous records. Their absence is curious, at the very least.
Most of the measures I voted on, went the way I hoped they would. The other election results, well, I am disappointed but that's the way it goes.
Have a good evening!
62 degrees and sprinkling rain; supposed to have thunderstorms tonight +/or tomorrow.
I did the grocery shopping, took out all the trash for pick-up in the morning. Nannie ate her sub sandwich in the mid afternoon, so hubby is only getting the two of us some supper, and she can have something later if she gets hungry. Right now she is sleeping in her recliner.
Her bed-linens and blankets were only damp, so I pulled the covers back and turned on her ceiling fan. Yesterday afternoon she went to the BR by herself, and put on: No pull-ups, no pads. one pair of pajama bottoms and a pair of slacks. She said, "They were dry when I put them on." But she once again got wet up to her shoulder-blades.
Currently I don't know the state of her butt, as I haven't checked yet to see how wet she is, because she got up OOB while I was shopping and I'm pretty sure hubby didn't help her; she still has the pj bottoms on that she wore last night. But I will change her pretty soon.
Gray and overcast, cool but not cold like yesterday. I went for a walk on my lunch break to check out the waterfowl in the estuary near my office, and spotted 2 seals in the water! This is a salmon creek, so I suspect they were looking for lunch.
Ado, that is a little concerning about missing paper. I think as far as the fed and state g’ment is concerned, we need to keep 3 yrs of stuff.
I think subway sounds like a good idea. I’m going to suggest going to watch grandson play hockey and then grabbing subs.
oops, I posted on wrong day. Oh well.

Tweety that's a big increase
NJ22 I heard it had gotten cold there in the NW
Ado glad you were able to direct him to the right location
Stars probably better he does not watch the news for a bit
Was a pretty good day at work, got a new case which was good as it would've been pretty slow otherwise. Still had time to help others
Was going to order Chinese but the usual place, the closest one to me, was closed. Hopefully they are not closed for good
Went to the library to pick up a book then came home and exercised and watched some Star Trek. They're currently showing the 3rd season which was mostly bad. They''re also showing the 1st season of The Next Generation which was really bad
Tonight have an online meeting with one of the political groups, then off to do grocery shopping
Think it will get up to 70 today and tomorrow before dropping into the 30s and 40s
