Hello all!
Dh still has no fever but he is pretty fatigued. He had wanted to go get the RV out of storage today, in anticipation of going camping on Sunday. He fed the cats, and I changed all their water dishes. Yesterday I did a little sewing project, on the curtain that will go in the RV. It's just a hunk of upholstery cloth, that will be draped between the RV's cab and the living section, to keep the living section warmer. I am anxious to try it out. We had planned to take out the RV from storage today, but I think dh is hoping he will feel better tomorrow, and more like taking the RV out.
nursej22, hope your knee continues to heal. Dh already uses an albuterol inhaler, just before he uses his long-acting inhaler (asthma).
Tweety, agree, Covid does seem to be a mystery. Who knows what strain dh has (though we assume it is Omichron), and for how long will he test positive (though he is slowly improving)? I am glad we are vaccinated, as things could have been worse.
Ado, when we lived in Northern California, above the Napa Valley, we had frequent power outages in the Winter. I don't recall the hospital ever being affected, though. We got (and still have) some liquid gas lamps, that we'd use during the outages.
So, we are waiting for dh to feel better before getting the RV and getting it ready for a short trip.
Hope you all have a good day!
Afternoon~
I thought I posted yesterday, but I didn't. I don't even remember how the day went. I do know we watched the Braves win 2-1. Another ballgame tonight.
j22- You are like a TIMEX watch: Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. Every time you are hurt or unwell, you're off on a long walk or a bicycle ride! I don't even have a quarter of your determination to stay active!
dianah, Hope your husband starts to perk up more. Does getting the RV out of storage require a lot of energy? It seems to me you just cleaned it and put it in storage a short while ago. Glad about you getting your guitar back and enjoying the better sound quality.
Hello, Joe!
Tweety, it's a good thing you avoided the big storm that was predicted in Florida. I know you aren't living as South as where the 'weather-event' took place. Happy sunset watching!
It is very humid here today; kind of took my breath away the first time I stepped out the door.
Went to a different pharmacy and grocery store than where I usually go. Hubby wanted a different kind of lens cleaner than the two that are available where I mostly shop. Today I went to WalGreen's and then since it was pouring down rain, I just drove over to Harris-Teeter, which is close by WalGreen's. I am not used to Harris-Teeter, so it took me a while to find everything. Everything being Nannie's CranApple, her yogurts, and good ol' Mountain Dew (yee-haw).
Hubby has taken a liking to "rustic" breads; hard for me to believe since he has been into white bread as long as I've known him. He actually ate a late breakfast of grits with bacon bits and butter, but now he is saying that he thinks that is why his blood-sugar was up to 180 last night. Um, I think it may have been the ham and cheese sandwich he ate about three hours after his supper (of which he told me, "I ate tooooo much!")
He's home with supper, so I gotta go!
Howdy, all!
The generator has been fixed. Hooray! Now if we have any more power outages we should be OK. I've been working at the hospital a few times that we were on generator power for a bit. I would hate to have been one of the people having cataract surgery here yesterday morning. "They" say we had 70+ mph winds.
dianah, hope your dh is feeling more up-to-par tomorrow. Is it a big job to get the RV out and ready to go? When our kids were younger we would tent-camp and I wouldn't mind doing it again but it is a lot of work to get everything together.
Twin A is coughing and hacking now. I'm guessing he was affected by whatever got Hubs.
Hi, I'm back at work this afternoon. Things got busier around here due to a number of refugees coming in requiring TB screening and vaccines. Most PCPs around here are 2 months out from seeing new patients, and most of these folks have letters saying they must screening within 14 days. So we are scrambling to get them seen. Our immunization nurse is trying to get clarification on what vaccines to give. The letters say COVID, polio and MMR, but if the people have no records we are supposed to assume they have none. The ones that have records are in another language, so we need guidance from the state or CDC about who will interpret them, and does the Chinese COVID vaccine count? Families of 5-8 are coming or calling almost everyday. And now very nice, OCD nurse will be out for a week because her M-I-L passed away and she needs to travel to the funeral. Ain't we got fun?
I tried going for a run on my new running shoes that I got yesterday, but, GI issues shortened that up. I suspect I have salmonella from tainted peanut butter. I broke down and got some lomotil. I know, TMI.
Hurray for generator repairs! I was working in a newer wing one night recovering heart cath patients and we had an outage. It seems the place was wired rather oddly, and very few of the lights were on generator power. That was exciting! If I remember, it was on New Years Eve and a car took out a power pole.
Dianah, I hope your dh regains his strength. COVID certainly seems to affect everyone differently. Glad you have been able to avoid it.
My hubby likes this weird bread he gets from the farmers market, but I think it has the taste and texture of cardboard. We definitely have some differing tastes and preferences. I have started to prefer more and more spice, and he is preferring more and more bland.
Weather is mostly overcast, in the 60s, tolerable.
I keep getting pop ups here, but only here. Weird. It's frustrating because it takes me away from the page to another page and I have to close the browser to get back. Seems to happen on the political forum. Hmmm...
Hope everyone stays off. Had a grueling day but got out on time. We had a patient that was on watch for suicidal and homicidal ideations escape our floor today. We wouldn't let him call his wife whose children he threatened. He had a bad back but damn could he run. Hopefully the police got him and sent him to a psych ER.
YIKES! I hope the police captured the escapee! That would be scary! I saw a hospital patient walking down the road, barefoot in late November, wearing his hosp. gown tucked into his bluejeans. Called the hospital and asked, "Are you missing a patient?" The operator was surprised and said, "Why, yes, we are. They are searching all the stairwells." I told her to have them send a cruiser to such-and-such street and pick him up. I knew the guy was desperate to get out, because a hospital gown, open in the back, and bare feet probably left him shivering his timbers! It makes me feel cold just thinking of it!
Ha! We got a call one time asking if we were missing a patient but we were not! The same morning one of our docs was out doing a bike ride and saw the guy walking down the street in a hospital gown, too, so *he* called the floor to see if anyone had escaped. Nope! ER said none of theirs missing. We're 20 miles from the nearest other hospital. There are a couple of nursing homes around but I wouldn't expect their residents to be in hospital gowns (at least not the residents that can walk). It's a mystery.
Hello and yes, No Stars, we just put the RV away after going to the Parkfield festival over Mother's Day weekend. But, we had this two weeks in the mountains planned, and it's coming up. And it takes a little bit of rearranging of things inside the RV, to get it ready to go. We need to stop on our way home with it, and get propane and gas for the trip. Fill it up with water once it's parked in front of the house. Then I do the shopping for groceries, and schlepp all the food into the rig (after the refrigerator has been turned on and has sufficiently cooled down). Then pack our duffel bags, load them and the instruments in, and leave. It would be nice if we had the room to park it at the house, but we have NO space in which to do that. We park it out in front of the house (no more than 72 hours, per the City regulations) and continue our prepping with it there.
Tweety, hope that patient was located and is now in a better, safer place for him. Sad you got out late.
nj22, sorry your day was so busy.
Tonight I shredded some old papers, and while doing that watched a Thin Man movie. Then got busy watching All Creatures Great and Small, on PBS. Lovely series. I had to stop, though, and re-charge my headset, so thought I'd get on here and holler at y'all.
Have a good evening!

Tweety glad you don't have to worry about cataracts yet
Ado glad the power came back on quickly
Dianah glad that you and your DH are better
NJ22 glad you're not too sore
Another not too busy day at work. So far so good this week. Will have to cut lunch short today as we have a meeting
Rest of the day was quiet too. Vacuumed and exercised. Also have begun emailing family. In order to stay in touch with the ones I only see at reunions and special occasions I email quarterly to see how everyone is doing
Today have grocery shopping after work. No choir practice for the Summer which gives me some more time
Think it will be in the 60s today with rain expected. Might rain too, hopefully not while I'm shopping
