Tweety that was good of you to attend anyway

NJ22 hope you don't end up sick

Hi Ado

Stars that will be nice to have most of a day free, hope that this becomes a regular thing

Dianah I ended up waking early too and not able to get back to sleep

Work was very quiet yesterday.  Which was good as I was busy with both dad and the cat

Took an early and longer lunch to take dad home from the TEE.  Took a bit longer than expected as the doctor wanted to talk to him first before leaving.  Looks like the vegetative growth is gone but there is a small clot, so he has to take Eliquis for a few months

Was going to work later at work to compensate, but there really was nothing to do

Which was good as the cat, who had been eating less lately, ate nothing yesterday and was lethargic.  So I called the vet and brought her in at the end of the work day, ended up leaving slightly early

After an hour at the vet, including an exam, X-rays, and a urinalysis, again there seemed to be nothing wrong with her except an upset stomach/hairball and a bit of dehydration.  So the vet gave her some fluids and an anti nausea medication and sent her home with an appetite stimulant that I have to give her daily PRN

So far this morning her behavior is back to normal although she has not yet started eating.  Hopefully the new medication will help

Should be a pretty ordinary day at work, have a coworkers who will be off starting this afternoon, hopefully that won't end up adding much to the workload

After work have dinner with the over 50 group, hopefully the traffic there isn't too bad

Think it is going to be similar to yesterday, in the low 30s

Good morning!
Joe, hope the cat is okay.  A friend had to put his cat on an appetite stimulant and that seemed to work.  Also was on some special feeding that made him thirsty and drink more.

J22, hope you're feeling better.

Dianah, sounds like a fun movie.

I started watching the Netflix series "Black Doves".  Keira Knightly is really good in this series, but she looks emaciated.

We got into the low 80's yesterday.  I ran the air conditioner for 30 minutes before going to bed because my room was uncomfortably warm and stuffy.

Nothing much going on today.  Doing some housework, laundry and cooking and going to the movies later.  Will put a review in the movie thread.

Joe, it's good that you were able to tend to your dad and the cat.

I'm going to make an appointment for our cat Turbo. It has been just a short time since she had the steroid shot for her mouth ulcers and the left side of her face is obviously swollen and actually seems worse.

J22, I hope you are feeling better. Your trip sounds exciting. We sing the Flanders Fields song almost every year around Memorial Day. A friend was in Holland this Summer/fall and shared stunning photos.

My work week has been low-key and I think it is partially because people take time off and I don't get as much email! Seems that a lot of my urgent activities come from emails. This is a good opportunity to take care of the things that get set aside in favor of the more "urgent" things.

We had choir practice last night. I feel that our ranks are really thin as we prepare for the cantata next week but what can we do but soldier on? The director is bringing in several instrumentalists so that we have a small orchestra but no additional voices. The little local orchestra he started is having a performance Friday night and most of the choir will be joining them for a carol medley at the end of it. Then we have choir practice Saturday morning and the cantata on Sunday.

Stars, I'm so glad things seem to be working out to give you some time off! You deserve it.

Here we are, on Wednesday. SiL called me on my cell at 8 AM to ask me to come unlock the back door.....although she does have a key, and was in the process of fishing it out when I got to the back door.  I prepared Nannie's breakfast tray and then went back to bed. (Nannie did get up at 3:40 AM, and Momo gave out the alert, so I went down and put her back to bed.)

It is approaching noon, and I have just finished my coffee and will get dressed. It's going to be in the mid-60's, with a few showers possible later in the afternoon.

I think I'm going to go ahead and get my nails done; I decided I really don't like the color I had chosen, and it is time to have them re-done. Think I will go back to the white tips, so I will feel more like myself....any color on my nails is ICK to me. It would be like if I started wearing lipstick all the time; I have never liked the way lipstick looks on me, no matter what color it is. I also have to pick up a few refills at the pharmacy. I may also go to give a bunch of blankets and towels to the Humane Society shelter, and then go to the library. I really ought to sort out the potential Xmas presents I have, decide who gets what, and wrap 'em. Don't have a whole lot of stuff....just some things I have picked up over the past 3-4 months with Xmas in mind. And there are a few cards I should send out, as well. Somehow I thought there was more time until Xmas and only realized the day before yesterday that it is actually pretty closely upon us. It will be okay if I wait and mail stuff up to my brother-in-law and sister in Maine; it's kind of a "family tradition" between the two of us to hardly ever get presents sent out before any holiday. Sometimes Xmas is in June!

I may stop at one or two more stores to see if I can find those turtleneck jerseys I want. Otherwise it will be time to search a few catalogs. Don't want to order anything from Amazon; I don't know why but that place irks me.

So, I will get up and get going....

I am NOT believing this! I went to three other department stores and an Athletic shop, and not one of them had turtleneck jerseys. Lots of heavy things with zippers and buttons, but not one single turtleneck jersey. Guess they aren't fashionable any more? That's okay, I'll wait until after Xmas and order some by catalog. I know L.L.Bean and Vermont Country Store and a few other catalogs will have them, maybe even at a 2-fer or 3-fer price. Meanwhile, I just SMH that something so "seasonal" wasn't available.

When I stopped at the grocery store, Booooo!, THEY didn't have the little Beneful cans for dogs; Momo loves their salmon dog food. The other day I was looking at Pet-Smart for the soft treats Momo likes and .....what the heck was I just going to write about that??  I'm sorry. I only stopped for 30 seconds to take a sip of my coffee and whatever I was going to write completely left my brain! I think Nannie's dementia is contagious!

After I stopped at Food Lion, I took my few groceries out to the car and once I got into my car, I realized I forgot to get the sweet (ice) tea. So I went back in and put the two six-packs on the counter and then realized I had left my wallet in the car, so I told the cashier I would be right back. When I brought my wallet back in she handed me the two six-packs and said "Merry Christmas" and I said it back to her, while opening my wallet. She said "No, Merry Christmas, they are already paid for." The lady who had been behind me had paid for them when I went out to get my wallet! WOW! Because the price was $8.97 per six pack (on sale). NICE Christmas present from a stranger! She was already out of the store so I didn't get to see her or thank her.

I didn't get to the humane society to donate the blankets and towels I had bagged for them, I also didn't get to the library, it is in the opposite direction from where I went, so maybe tomorrow.  There are so many things I would like to do, but not enough days in the week to get it done. Although SiL did take Nannie to daycare, and....AND she said she would pick her up this afternoon, then take her to get her nails painted. But Nannie will eat supper here. Don't know how hungry she will be because she was fed an AM snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. She will surely go to bed earlier tonight from having a very long day that did not have her just sitting in her recliner, napping and probably, whether she knew it or not , being bored. I know it bores me to have to sit and keep her company most of the time. // Last night while watching HGTV, there were some guys lifting heavy bookcases and Nannie thought we should get up and go help them. And when there is a commercial where they say "Call NOW!" she wants to know if we need to go ahead and dial that number and make the call like they said to do. There seems to be even more of a gap in her brain where TV and real-life get crossed up in her mind. I had another patient who used to do that, too, when "Paw" on Little House was driving up to the porch, the lady I was taking care of got up to go "let them in"; and another time whatever we were watching showed a man talking on the phone, and this lady said she wished he would get off the phone so she could call her (long dead) mother. Sad, but also kinda funny.

Anyway, that's it for now, unless I have a brilliant flash about what I was going to type earlier!

I also got that hideous color taken off my nails (it was a What. Was. I. Thinking. color, sort of pinkish but sorta too orange-ish.) Now I am back to the white tips, thank goodness. I don't know how those women can paint on the white part 'free-hand' and have it come out evenly. The lady up in Asheville who I used to go to used a 'compressed air-gun' (with a small tip) and a paper guide on the nail to get the white tips to come out evenly.

I still can't remember what I was going to say a couple of paragraphs ago. Oh well!

Ha, join the crowd, No Stars!  I will frequently forget what I intended to say or write!!  Oh, and remembering some words?  Pfffffftttttt!!  Let's not even go to remembering ppl's names!!  Some I recall, others (though the face is VERY familiar), nope!  Just my getting-older brains.

Good you got SOME things on your list done.  And how nice of the other customer in Food Lion, to pay for your sweet tea!!  Yah, turtlenecks...  I guess they aren't in style now, but they are so nice to wear when you just want something cozy but not too hot, to wear.  I'm sure you will find them at Land's End or LL Bean or Vermont Country Store.

Ado, poor Turbo!  I hope your vet is able to provide her/him with some relief, that's GOT to hurt.   Too bad choir isn't as full as you had hoped.  I hope the program goes well, in spite of that.

Tweety, Keira Knightley always looks emaciated, to me.  She used to be a heavy smoker; I was hoping she had quit, after having her kids, but then I am not in her inner circle, so she may well have quit and I just wasn't informed...  🙃  She is a good actress!  Hope you enjoy the series.  We are enjoying Elementary, on Prime.

Joe, I hope your cat regains her appetite and feels better.  Good there were no vegetations on your dad's TEE.  Clot is a little scary.  He is feeling well, yes?

I have puttered around the house a little.  Tomorrow is my old department's party, at lunch time.  I got an invite, and will show up for a bit.  I will make a cranberry-jalapeno dip and bring it and some crackers (my contact said dessert was covered, so they don't get the spice cookies!).  I still have to make the dip.

Dh ordered a new phone, and it came today (he announced it was his Christmas present).  His old phone is 2 years old and the battery was swollen.  He was afraid to lose all his settings and data if the old phone went kaput, so he is switching them over now.  He is in contact with a support person, hopefully dh won't tear much of his hair out during this process.

Have a good evening!

Hi. Boy, did it blow and rain hard last night. All of the twigs and spruce cones that I cleaned up on Sunday are back on the deck and the driveway. I try to keep that stuff cleaned up because I worry that dh will fall. Oh, and me, too, seeings how I'm the one who has taken a couple of tumbles this year. The sun was out briefly, so I took the dogs for a walk. The discomfort I was feeling yesterday is mostly gone. I chased the vacuum around, and made a batch of cookies: chocolate with chocolate chips topped with crushed peppermint  candies. Not too bad, but sort of sticky and messy to shape and top with the candy. While I was working on cookies the dogs decided to open one of the presents under the tree. It was a lego set for one of the grandsons. They tore the paper and a bit of the box, put didn't scatter the legos. They were scolded and acted remorseful.

I've been watching Bondi Vet on YouTube. They've got some scary critters in Australia.

I hope Nannie is worn out from daycare and ready for bed when she gets back. Gosh, maybe she should call one of those numbers, it might keep her entertained, LOL.

I don't do much with Amazon but sometimes it's the only way to find stuff. My former PCP, who was a bit of a quack, was always recommending some specific supplement on Amazon. the sport doc I saw for my knees recommended supplements from them too, but I don't find much of that stuff effective.
