I don't know what is irritating my ring finger at work. The soap??? The alcohol hand sanitizer. It is got to the point of breakdown after a 12 hour shift. I don't think it was as bad until I had my rings welted together and downsized because I have lost some wt. I feel naked without my ring at work. I have got the point of pulling it off when I get off work to sleep and put antibiotic cream on it. Thank you for all your help.
I actually just quit wearing my (wide) wedding band for several years, and then did buy and wear a narrow one. My dermatitis would start under the band and then crawl up over the rest of my hand(s). I know I was sensitive to the bactericidal soaps--it was before the hospitals started using the gels.
my entire hands break down, and i've scratched them til they bleed.
i found out it was a combination of the hand sanitizers as well as the latex gloves.
i got a dr's note and only wear latex-free gloves;
and have found a sanitizer for sensitive skin.
hctz cream also helped.

I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one with this problem (not that I'm happy to hear you ARE lol)...
My first assignment as a traveler had that God-awful foam crap. And even though I'd told them ahead of time I was latex allergic, I found myself without non-latex gloves on many occasions. Between the two, I was a mess. Even without the latex gloves, the foam itself caused severe itching, I broke out and spent the night and next day with my eyes swollen and itchy, nose running, sneezing and wheezing.
