Hey Kelly!

Lordy it's been a long day here....my son had baseball from 8-930 am, and then again from 12noon-2pm. In between, we came home for a quick breakfast and I plowed through some psych questions. After 2pm I had to get ready to work 3-11, and just got home. BUT I was able to do about 75 questions while at work, and review some notes, too!

Tomorrow I am focusing on pharm and lab values. Oh, and one last review of some notes I have taken throughout this process. I feel ready--as ready as I'm going to get. I could study forever but I'm not sure I'm going to retain any more information....my head is stuffed full!

Monday I am planning to have a massage, hang out with my kids, make pizza for dinner....NO STUDYING! We'll see if I cheat on that plan, though, lol!!

We are gonna do just fine.....

Andrea

WOW! I really admire you...a son, work, & you're steadily getting your study on! How long have you been studying? Mainly questions? You seem to be VERY focused!

Hey Andrea-

Just reading your post tired me out. I haven't been out amongst the general public since last saturday...........lol Glad that you got to get some questions in at work. What floor are you working? I start MS on the 13th :uhoh21:

I got in 500+ questions yesterday (did 2 tests) one on Mosby the other on the 3000 question cd-it's funny though, b/c they had at least 20 duplicate questions-worded slightly different yet the same. They took about 3hs each. My scores continued to increase and now getting in the higher 70s so that took a little of pressure off. I really liked the Mosby book and cd........it's had plenty of math, abg, and pharm to where I am feeling pretty good about those right now. My worst area were the OB/PEDS and I have brought those up too so I feel about like you. I don't think my brain will hold anymore info or I will have to go to ER for ICP :rotfl: I ended up stopping at about 5 pm and then took on "Pole Position" old vidoe game!!

Today labs are about all I am going to have an opportunity to do. My neice will be here with dd so I may play a little softball with them. Tomorrow I will get to the city where my test site is about 0330 and then see what movie I want to go see etc. and then planning on topping the night off with a relaxing swim or hot tub dip.

I will post before leaving tomorrow. WE WILL PASS!!! WE WILL PASS!!! WE WILL PASS!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! That's awesome! You're an RN now :balloons: :nurse: !!!!!

Thanks, pie!

I actually have *two* kids, but my daughter doesn't play baseball, lol! My kids are 9 and 7. And right now I work VERY part time, but I'm trying to contribute as much as I can to the income, since money's been pretty tight while I've been in school...

Let's see....we graduated May 21st. Got my ATT May 23rd. So I started studying on May 24th. But also, I am one of those people that can get a lot done over a short amount of time--I don't mind studying 6 hours a day or whatever, if I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! It's just hard to maintain that pace over a long stretch.

At work last night, one of my fellow GNs said to me "we're all waiting to see how you do...you really are the guinea pig of all of us new grads!" and I soooooooooo feel that. So, as if there wasn't enough of my own pressure to pass, it feels worse knowing all these other people are holding their breath!!!

Kelly,

How quick can you get results where you are? NH doesn't do the quick results thing BUT they do have online license verification....when I took the LPN boards, I took them on a Monday at about 11am, and my license number was posted the next morning by 9am!!!! Sooooooooooo I'm hoping to be put out of my misery very quickly this time, too!!!

Oh, about my job....last night I was working on the tele floor as a unit secretary, which I've done for the last five years. This hospital doesn't take GNs with temp licenses--you gotta pass the big test first. And, I wanted to be hired onto tele and the offered me Med/Surg :angryfire .....and I've also had an offer from a pediatric burn hospital.... but I won't be starting anywhere as an RN until at least the end of August--taking the summer of to be with my kidlets!

Oh, and I will for sure post on Tuesday about the # of questions, my overhwelming urge to vomit, etc.!!!!!!!!

Hey girl-

I live in TX but, we can do the same with the BNE here to verify so I am going to save the xtra $. I should know by Thursday at noon at the latest.

Why wouldn't they hire you in tele? Good gosh, you've been in the dept. for 5 years............... :angryfire I was all set to go into Onc. unit but all they had was nights and I can't #1 do that with kids, and #2 just not a night person. I think I could handle 3-11 but would put such a burden on my Mom most time that 7-7 was best option for me at this time. Glad that you get to spend some xtra time with the kiddos. I scheduled a vacation (already) for about a month after I start.............told em I promised kids to go to schlitterbahn (water park about 200 miles away) this summer for surviving NS, they said no problem so I am like......I will probably need a break by then anyway just from the overwhelming change I know I will be dealing with too!!

Yeah, I'll post when I get home on tuesday about the experience. I will find yours and add to it and then by Thursday sometime we will both be on here doing the b/c WE WILL PASS!!! WE WILL PASS!!!

Hey grinnurse,

Good luck on your test! I'm sure you will do great! I was wanting to tell you that the Texas BNE website is apparently really slow right now. I have 3 friends that took the test last Wednesday and passed, and I took it Friday and passed, and none of our results have shown up on the RN verification on the BNE site. So, all of us couldn't stand it any longer and looked it up on Pearson vue, which takes 2 days (I found out this morning, so they update on the weekend too). So if you can stand to wait on it, maybe it will be faster next week! But yes you will pass!! GOOD LUCK!! :)

Thanks for that tip on the TXBNE. If I don't know something by Thursday night I will be checking Pearson Vue. Don't they give you a number to call or something that you can charge it to your phone or cc on the web site? Or do I need to pay it at the time of the test? Were you aloud to leave your jewelry on at the test site? I know you can't leave your watches on but how about wedding ring? I am going to die without my watch.........LOL

Thanks again and congrats to you and your friends on passing. Keep your fingers crossed for the rest of us this week!!

Hey grinnurse~ They do give you a number to call and a website to check for your results. When you got your ATT you should have received a paper in there talking about the quick results. Your "unofficial" results are supposed to be posted two days after your test, and mine were posted early in the morning, and as of today the BNE website still doesn't show that we passed. You can pay $7.95 and get your results on the website http://www.pearsonvue.com/nclex, you sign in with your username and password that they gave to you in an email when you signed up to take NCLEX. If your results are ready there will be a link that says "Quick Results". After you click on that, a form will pop up where you can fill in your credit card information, so you don't need to worry about paying until your results are actually available. You can also get your results over the phone for $9.95, but it is a 900 number and I couldn't call it from my home phone or cell phone, but that number is 1-900-776-2539.

I was allowed to leave all of my jewelry on during the test (rings, etc) but I did have to take off my watch, which drove me crazy also! But there is a timer in the upper right hand corner of your screen that tells you how much time you have left and you can take a break whenever you want. I see that you said you are taking it in Tyler, that is also where I took mine. Everyone is really nice and helpful at the center there, and if you need help with directions or anything, just let me know!

Thanks so much for the congrats, we are all excited! I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for all of you! The main thing is to stay calm and focused. And if you go past 75, know that it is okay because I went way past that and still passed. Just make sure you keep your nerves in check and take your time. GOOD LUCK!!!! :)

Thank you, andre and RainDreamer!

Good luck to those of you who are still waiting for results or to take the exam! YOU WILL PASS!!!!! (Thank you for the mantra, grinnurse!)
