UT Tyler - Longview Extension
I graduated from UT Tyler-Longview last May. A lot of things have changed since I entered the program, but the higher GPA you have the better because it has gotten really competitive. I also recommend that you get the highest grade you can in A&P. I went to the Tyler and Longview campus both, and found that I liked Longview much better. The teachers offered more one on one assistance and the class as a whole was much closer and studied together a lot more. I currently work in one of the hospitals in Longview and did not do clinicals there until my last semester of nursing school, but I liked it much better than the hospitals in Tyler. If you do go to Longview, you have to commute to Tyler a couple of times during the semester for certain events, but it is only about an hour. If you have any more questions, let me know and I will be happy to help the best I can! aggienurse RN, BSN class of 05

just a question about Texas
college station is my favorite place in tx too, i was there for five years also and graduated from texas a&m. i miss it greatly and somedays wished i had never moved. i volunteered at both hospitals there and loved them. the atmosphere of the town is great and everyone is super friendly. there is always something going on at the university and the weather there is a lot milder than it is in the houston area. its a great place to live and i would recommend it to anyone! :)

So, my first day was Monday..............
Hey Lil, I just read your post, it is a small world! I am one of the girls that sits in the very back from UT Tyler that is on Ortho. I'm not sure if that helps any or not. :) Are you not super bored with all this stuff? I feel like I am about to fall asleep everyday. Its not that its not good information, its just long and drawn out. That would have been funny if you had gotten up and yelled that, but you know it probably wouldn't have registered with me! :chuckle I'm not too excited about only having 2 days off this weekend either, but I've already warned everyone that if they wake me up tomorrow they are dead meat! :rotfl: Have a good weekend and maybe by Monday we can figure out who each other is! :)

So, my first day was Monday..............
I totally sympathize with you Lil, I have been in the classroom (8-5) since Monday and all we are talking about is policies and procedures and "service excellence". They have been making us do case studies every day so I'm thinking the same thing, I thought I was done with all this stuff. We have our internship till July 15th so at least ours is a little shorter, but its just really boring and I don't feel like I am learning a whole lot, but we do get to go on the floor next Friday so that is exciting. Good luck to everyone and congrats on becoming a new nurse! :)

When is everybody starting work and what unit?
I start Monday the 13th, we have orientation for 4 weeks, then I will be in Ortho/Neuro. I am really excited because I am the only person in my class to get a day shift. I am also very excited about the paycheck, it is what's keeping me motivated right now! Good luck to everyone! :)

I'm a real nurse!!
Congratulations to all of the new RN's!! :balloons: I took my test last Friday in Texas and my license didn't show up till Tuesday on the BNE website, so it is taking them a few days longer. But be patient, it will be there, and it will be worth all of this we have gone through! Brandi RN, BSN

NCLEX Result Update
congratulations!!!!!! :balloons: doesn't it feel good?!? :)

Took NCLEX-RN today
Thanks tmarie75 and flaced! flaced~ I know it is hard to wait. You can find out your results two days after the test on the Pearson vue website, that is what I did (I took the test Friday and found out Sunday). That site is http://www.pearsonvue.com/nclex. You sign in with the username and password they gave you, and pay $7.95 and it will tell you whether you passed or failed. The number to call is a 900 number, on my phone it doesn't work and it costs $9.95, but that number is 1-900-776-2539. Well good luck and I start work next Monday too, so have a good last week of vacation! :)

We will pass!!!..................
I wore a short sleeve shirt and capris and was comfortable. I don't recall being hot or cold, but most people wore short sleeves and windpants or whatever. So I wouldn't think that the room would be cold, so I would just wear whatever to be comfortable. There isn't much in the Tyler mall is there? I do most of my shopping at Foley's across the street Anyways, get some good rest today and good luck! Brandi aggienurse

We will pass!!!..................
Hey grinnurse~ They do give you a number to call and a website to check for your results. When you got your ATT you should have received a paper in there talking about the quick results. Your "unofficial" results are supposed to be posted two days after your test, and mine were posted early in the morning, and as of today the BNE website still doesn't show that we passed. You can pay $7.95 and get your results on the website http://www.pearsonvue.com/nclex, you sign in with your username and password that they gave to you in an email when you signed up to take NCLEX. If your results are ready there will be a link that says "Quick Results". After you click on that, a form will pop up where you can fill in your credit card information, so you don't need to worry about paying until your results are actually available. You can also get your results over the phone for $9.95, but it is a 900 number and I couldn't call it from my home phone or cell phone, but that number is 1-900-776-2539. I was allowed to leave all of my jewelry on during the test (rings, etc) but I did have to take off my watch, which drove me crazy also! But there is a timer in the upper right hand corner of your screen that tells you how much time you have left and you can take a break whenever you want. I see that you said you are taking it in Tyler, that is also where I took mine. Everyone is really nice and helpful at the center there, and if you need help with directions or anything, just let me know! Thanks so much for the congrats, we are all excited! I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for all of you! The main thing is to stay calm and focused. And if you go past 75, know that it is okay because I went way past that and still passed. Just make sure you keep your nerves in check and take your time. GOOD LUCK!!!! :) aggienurse

We will pass!!!..................
Hey grinnurse, Good luck on your test! I'm sure you will do great! I was wanting to tell you that the Texas BNE website is apparently really slow right now. I have 3 friends that took the test last Wednesday and passed, and I took it Friday and passed, and none of our results have shown up on the RN verification on the BNE site. So, all of us couldn't stand it any longer and looked it up on Pearson vue, which takes 2 days (I found out this morning, so they update on the weekend too). So if you can stand to wait on it, maybe it will be faster next week! But yes you will pass!! GOOD LUCK!! :) aggienurse

Took NCLEX-RN today
I just found out today that I passed, I am very excited and relieved!! My results were posted on the Pearson vue website, but not on the Texas BNE site yet, but I expect it to be later in the week. Congrats to everyone who passed and good luck to those taking it soon, keep a positive attitude, it can be done! :) aggienurse

Took NCLEX-RN today
Hey grinnurse, yeah I had heard that they might post the results on the BNE website on Sunday also. However, some friends of mine took it on Wednesday and their results aren't up yet. So, I'm thinking that my results may not be up by tomorrow, but I'm still going to check! Thanks for the encouragement, its going to be a hard weekend! :) aggienurse

Took NCLEX-RN today
Thanks Holli! I'm trying my best not to worry about it, because at this point it isn't going to change the outcome. Good luck to you on Monday, it is stressful, but just take your time. I definitely don't want to discourage anyone from studying because there are a lot of things I did recognize today from things I studied recently. But there are just so many priority questions and delegation questions that you really can't study for. So good luck, have a good and restful weekend and try not to stress too much (I know its hard :) ). aggienurse

Took NCLEX-RN today
I also took NCLEX today, but I had a lot more than 75 questions, which makes me feel very uneasy, I thought it was never going to end. I agree with everyone also, there were very few questions where I was 100%confident that I knew the answer. I definitely don't feel that my studying or any amount of studying would have prepared me for it. I hope everyone did well, and now the hard part-waiting! I will also find out Tuesday or Wednesday if I passed, but that still seems like forever. Everyone stay in high spirits and know it is not the end of the world if we don't pass, but it would be great if we did!! aggienurse BSN Grad May '05
