There are several smart FNPs on this website that could easily produce very good context driven content much better than provided by many programs out there.
Get 5 or so graduated FNPs, each to cover what they believe to be their strongest systems with each reader over each other's content. There are several good pharmacology videos on youtube, health assessment videos, and even patho videos, enough to teach somebody much better than a crappy written patho book could ever teach.
I am pretty sure i could go on epocrates using my paid subscription, pick out the needed ailments and conditions, and put them into powerpoint form or even use a whiteboard and draw it out using some interesting memory techniques that do work if applied.
I am also sure there are a lot of other people that could do this on this site.
Health assessment lab?? I am sure we could figure this out, at worst just rent out a lab from local schools, I am sure they would like the extra money.
Tests? set up local proctoring for exams. I do not believe in only open book tests, and any program that is fully open book is a joke. If you disagree you are probably a meat head and are going to kill several people after graduation, IF you get a job.
Papers? screw papers, I want clinic based content
Theory? Screw theory, I want fully capable and PRACTICAL NPs. Not theoretical lunatics discussing the best shape of a bedpan over cups of irish tea in the library.
Clinicals? I am sure we could help the students better than many of these online for profit fools do in finding clinical sites. I know people all over my area that would be happy to take students.
Accreditation- Well, considering some of the trash that gets accredited I am sure we could get this work. This is the least of the problems. I am sure "Hi I want to start an np program, can i plz" would acquire a YES from the accrediting agencies.
Better yet, why not just put all the content on youtube for people to study, let them take 40 or so proctored tests over the course of 2 years, make them do 700 clinical hours AFTER passing a health assessment demonstration, and provide them with a decent review course. I mean I bet Margaret Fitzgerald makes a ton off of her course, and it was ******* terrible.
and there you go folks, a better FNP program than 90% of them out there, without all of the fluff. Since we will use multiple choice questions, borrowed from all of the other programs in the country (I am sure they would share them for a price, also we could all tap into those endless review question things they have online and use those too with a few word changes to prevent fraud) and we wouldn't be grading 20 page papers over THE STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF BEERS CRITERIA AND ITS USE IN PRACTICE, we would not need a huge staff.
Wasn't too hard was it?
who is with me? I need the extra money to pay off these loans

I agree helping with finding preceptors would help as well, i am sure a few of the graduated and seasoned FNPS could be great preceptors
