Anyone applying for nursing for jan 09?? If so whats your going in GPA??

Do you know about the application process? I was thinking of applying. Is this the last time you can apply using transfer classes? Also, is it to late for me to apply if I haven't sent in my transcripts? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks. Good luck to you!

I think the deadline for transcripts is sometime this week. If not this week it is sometime really soon.

Jabraham99, you might want to go to an information meeting first. For one thing it is mandatory to attend one in order to apply and, secondly, if I am not mistaken I believe Fall 2008 was the LAST semester you could apply where they waived the 12 credit hour at WCCCD policy in order for them to evaluate your transfer credits. You may have to complete 12 credit hours at WCCCD before they will transfer your credits and you wont be able to apply for Jan 09, but you would be able to apply for Fall 09...Good luck! :)

yea this was last semester that anyone could apply with transfer credits without completing 12 credit hrs from wayne county first and all transcpits have to have been evalutaed by August 1st for jan 09

why did they start this?

There is no way of knowing their rationale for starting this, and I won't speak for the nursing department. However, I will say that the 12 credit hour policy is a WCCCD policy and that the nursing department used to waive it for their department only. Why they decided to lift it is the question and it could have been the college administration that decided to do it and not the nursing department itself.

We may never know, but if you want to go to WCCCD then take the 12 credit hours and apply. The program is extremely intense, but once you learn how to answer those questions and manage your time efficiently you will be fine. It becomes easier as you get adjusted.

Hi Jabraham, I attended another information meeting on September 10th. The entire application process has completely changed. You will beed 12 credits hours at WCCCD if you are a transfer students for January admission and in the future. They changed this because students who attended WCCCD complained about the open door policy. They have also changed deadline dates and so forth. Now you must have a 59 on the reading portion of your NET test, and 2.8 GPA in pre-Req's courses to even be considered for the program. The Fall 2009 application deadline is February 26th and for January 2010 is June 30th. Admission for Fall 2009 will be based on a 100 point scale depending on NET scores, GPA in Pre-req's, completion of Co-req's, previous medical experience, essay and reference letters. This changed was approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing. Hope this helps feel free to contact me. But make sure you attend a meeting yourself. Don't qoute me but I think another information meeting is on October 2nd or 5th.

thanks silly rabbit, you sound very informative. i am new to this forum, just joined a couple of days ago. i'm waiting for an acceptance letter for spring 09, i attended the aug.26th app. meeting, there were about 60 students applying. i have been trying to find out how many students applied on sept. 15th. the wait is torture:banghead: i don't know what my chances are but i have a 3.5 gpa in the prereq. and over 10 years experience as a certified hemodialysis tech. what about you guys, can't wait to here back!:yeah:

Holy cow, Silly Rabbit!!!!

I am glad I was accepted. The previous medical experience would have really messed me up. Good luck to everyone who is applying for Spring 09...Keep your spirits up, I have a feeling the odds are going to be much better this time around!

so it seems wcccd changed their policy because to many transfer were getting accepted over students that have been there longer. apparently it's working because on aug.26th there were only about 60 students turning in app. compared to about 150. not to mention all the people who were at the info. meetings.schoolcraft cc also has a in district rule to, so i say it's about time wccc started. did anyone attend the app. meeting on sept. 15th if so how many students were applying
