Hey ya, sorry, no concrete insider tips here. My application process was almost 3 years ago. I hear things changed a lot. I do know the GPA is very competitive. I believe the last accepting applications, the GPAs were at 3.7 as the lowest. I went in with a 3.7 and I felt pretty good about it, now who knows. When I did my essay, I did 2 pages double spaced.
Best Wishes to you. I take my exit RN exam for WCCCD tomorrow. I will officially, officially be done with Nursing school.
Congratulations on being done with school and good luck on your exam! I have heard horror stories about nursing school so I am a little scared.
I have all A's in my five classes so I am not to worried about the grade aspect just nervous to know what to expect.
I also heard the first 7.5 weeks are killer. That you have so much to read and are tested daily. Well I am ready for the challange.
Again good luck on your exam!

This is the first semester of their new point system, I believe, so you probably aren't going to get any concrete answers because I am not sure anyone knows how they are doing things now. I am starting the program this month and at the application meeting we just filled out the applications and we turned them in with our information, they looked over it a little bit and answered quick questions, but they are not checked there, and you won't really know if there is a problem with something until later on. My essay was about 2 pages and I had a 4.0 in my pre-reqs also.
Anyway... GOOD LUCK
Can I go to the Feb 16th meeting and see how it is and then go to the Feb 26th to actually turn everything in? Is that a waste of time? I think I heard about the point system stuff. I figure with a 4.o I am a shoe in as long as all my stuff is in order. That is why I am nervous about the application meeting, to go through all the trouble to get all A's and mess the packet up would be pretty devestating! Maybe that's what they call "weeding" people out! LOL
Maybe if you have time, you could let us know how the process is going for you. Good luck.
I have been very careful about following their directions, and so far, haven't had any problems with my paper work. I know of one girl who had a recommendation that wasn't right (don't remember why) and she was allowed to switch it and was still accepted to the program. You can always go into the office and have your paper work looked at. I did that before the meeting after we were accepted and and had to show our medical papers. Be careful that you get acceptable references though, I know of a few people that that had been a problem for. I know and employer is acceptable and some one you have known for over 10 years. I've worked for the same company for over 10 years so I used the owner and a co-worker, both of which I have known for over 10 years, and had no problem. They do not accept letters from professors
...the application meeting is not a big deal, you just might have to wait in line. I went to the first one myself

Hi
I have a few questions for you or anyone that could help. I am transferring
from OCC and I currently enrolled in Fam. Communication and Growth & Devel.
What classes do I need to complete before filing an application for the Nursing
program? I have already completed A&P I,II; Physicis I;Med Terminology; Med
Law & Ethics; Intro to Pysch; Philosophy; Comp I, II; Algebra.
I am just so confused. At OCC I had met with an advisor and had everything
in place then decided to switch to WCCCD because I heard clinicals are offered
evening and weekends...
Please anyone with any info I would greatly appreciate it. I am trying to finish
this as soon as possible.
Thanks!!:confused::confused:
The only classes you need are A&P 1&2, microbiology, english 1, and intro to psychology to apply.
here is the web address to WCCCD's website- http://www.wcccd.edu/academic/pdfs/NUR.pdf
