Don't worry about finding a job this early in your nursing career. Focus on learning the skills first.
You have the option of applying to residency programs. They're specifically for new graduates. A lot of places hire new grads, as well. There's a big demand in Texas, I can tell you that. Your experience in the ER will certainly help you. Good luck!
I would get that job in ER registration and then go for my EMT and try to turn that ER registration job into a tech job in that ER. If you like them and they like you, they may offer you an RN job upon graduation. You do not "need" med-surg as a new grad but it is helpful for any specialty you go into.
I just worked on building a good relationship with my teachers. While a few would be unliked by most students or something I kept acting alert and respectful in class and always thinking of good questions to ask. When I told my teacher I never heard back from a hospital job I applied to, she took out her cell right then and there and texted someone she knew in HR who contacted me later for an interview. (For a pt observer/tech job but it's my foot in the door for a really good hospital system).

I'm currently a freshman in a BSN program but I really want to make sure I get a job in a med-surg specialty after graduation. Most of them require at least two years of experience though and there must be tons of applicants with far more experience coming in so what's a good way to diversify one's self?
I have a high gpa (hoping it stays that way lol), I've volunteered in ER registration for 2 years now and will most probably get a job in ER registration. I've got lots of work experience in customer service and help desk esque jobs as well. The biggest downside is that I don't have actual medical job and I don't see myself having the time and having a job as a CNA or EMT at the moment. I do plan to work in hospitals during my clinicals (lots of the hospitals hire if you've done one clinical and you're able to work as a nursing assistant but this would be in 2ish years). Would research help (I plan to do so anyways)?
So any advice that would diversify me?
