Wayland Baptist University SA

Published

Just wanted to start a thread where students (previous, current, and future) from the nursing program at Wayland can vent, talk, ask and share ideas and questions. Maybe it can make life easier and less stressful. So share and ask so we can help each other get through school and life somewhat stress-free!!

Or maybe someone has questions about the school and programs. I was originally going to transfer to UTHSCSA from ACCD but this program has less applicants and closer to home. If I would have known about this school sooner I would have not taken classes I took for UTHSCSA that I didn't need for WBU.

I live pretty far away from the college and have been taking online for.a year and half with another college. I find online .harder than when I was actually sitting in.classroom. If I don't.get in.I will continue my current degree plan with who I am with now.

Sorry for mistakes, on phone. Hard to type.

I'm sure you'll get in. The program hasn't been around too long. Their classes r still small & I'm sure they're trying to fill them every time.

I hope so. Still waiting to see what transfer credits they are going to accept from my current university. Hopefully I will know next week. How arebyou liking the classes so far?

Well haven't taken any nursing since I just got accepted into the fall, but I've taken some pre req's and I like the atmosphere of the ppl here better then the community college. They are very helpful in class & the office. It's a small school since the big campus is located in Plainview. We are actually an offsite with mainly older students & more evening classes then day.

So how r u going to do it for clinicals?! R u far?!

Im only 36hours in and still on the fence about the total transfer. I just read your post in the other thread about clinical being all over the state. I really want some clarification before I commit. I have my app in with Baptist and Im pretty sure I can get in there too, even if its not an online. But...Id rather do that than have to travel 500 miles a week to do clinicians! How do they expect ppl to do that?

Clinicals for Wayland Baptist are only here in San Antonio, Houston & Port Arthur Texas from what I know.

Now UTA has clinicals all over. There's ppl from California Arizona everywhere that do UTA. You just have to find a partnered hospital in your state.

Where do u have apps at?

A lot of my credits didn't transfer!! I was originally going to apply to UTHSCSA but decided I didn't want to drive down there everyday. WBU is a couple exits from where I live so I decided to go there instead even though I had like 9 more classes to take. I attached a pic. First time doing it see if it works!!

Hi everyone! Finally I found a current thread for Wayland lol. I applied for winter 2013 also! I'm trying to get in LVN-BSN though. I'm testing for it August 5/6th, if I pass I will go in for a short time period but I'm still gonna be with all of yall! I'm freaking out about the test...anyone else heard anything? O and ps. the NCLEX pass rate was at 50% because only two people had taken the test, one passed, one failed...thus 50%. The students need to study and test, not just go for their masters :( ps, if anyone wants to add me on FB to make it easier to message lemme know. The best way to survive nursing school is study buddies. TRUST ME lol

So u're doing the online, but I thought LVN-BSN was just on campus?! I start in August. I knows he rate is low that's why the school went on probation. Hopefully they stay accredited through the whole program!!

I'm gonna do the on campus, man I don't think I could survive online nursing school, but I don't think they offer the online for LVN-BSN. Sorry if I made it sound that way lol. I heard that as long as we get in for fall, and god forbid they lose accreditation,we still get to finish. It sucks for the people after us though, I hope we keep it. Have they told the people who are accepted to the regular program anything? Like when classes are gonna start or anything?

If anyone wants to be FB buddies so we can contact eachother easier before school starts if anyone has questions.

Oh no the reason I asked about online is because only online starts in the winter. The other programs only do fall & spring I guess that's what confused me. So when are you starting the nursing August or February? My neighbor starts February spring. I don't have an fb!!

Yeah they said if we get in that we are good but if its not accredited when we graduate it can hurt us to transfer our credits/license. That's what I was told.
