Watts School of Nursing June

Wanted to see who else is going to Watts (Mt Olive) starting in June. I just got my acceptance letter today! Wondering who my fellow classmates will be!

Just got my paper back from SOC230, satisfied with the grade and her comments. It bugs me though that she insisted I reference several ideas that were ENTIRELY my genius. ;-)

She's tough, from my understanding. I still haven't gotten mine back yet and would really like it so that I can get started on the next paper. I want to make sure that I am doing it correctly by her standards!

Lynne: consider yourself lucky! I got a zero on my paper...apparently, I didn't follow instructions, so she said it was not going to be counted at all! She could have at least graded the content!! :mad:

AAARRG! I got a 0 also! All she said was it was 2.5 pages long and not 3-5! No other comments. In my last online class, I disagreed with a lot of comments the instructor said in my paper and i decided not to do anything about it- seeing as it was the last assignment and my grade was pretty much established - and at least he made comments!. However, getting a 0 on my first paper in this soc class is not ok. I am so ****** off! I am going to demand that she make comments. How am I to know if I did anything else wrong- this is school and I am supposed to learn from my mistakes! AAAARRRGGG!

ahh- i feel better now (not really). thanks for letting me vent.

You two can vent all you want!! That's what we're here for!

That really sucks - I think I would see what I could do about getting

an adjustment on the 0 grade! Hope none of the rest of the classes

are that strict!

To just give a zero is uncalled for IMO, i think content still counts for something!!! zero indicates you didn't do anything!!! sorry guys :(

Well, ladies! While my grade was ok, I am with you 100%. The teacher is a bully. She is holding us to the letter of the syllabus, which I suppose she should, but to just blow off your work is wrong.

I heard from several people via email about their frustrations and emailed our contact at MOC to voice my thoughts.

Essentially, I stated that: she had not offered one bit of instruction in the first week and a half of a 5 week course and that I am convinced that there is no hope of us having our understanding of the information being fairly evaluated in this class. I went on to say that I am extremely disappointed to have spent my hard earned money on a class (and book) that the teacher does not participate in.

I also noted that the syllabus states that "Instructors are required to post and respond to students 5 out of 7 days without having 2 consecutive days off" and she has never posted to offer perspective, direction or argument to any of our posts. I doubt she even looks at it.

Oh, I also mentioned that I felt the course assignments were quite a lot for a level 200 course. My only comparison is psy 331 which was way more manageable and I felt like I the teacher actually got involved in the class.

FWIW, I don't know what they can do at this point but we can hope something changes.

I know we can't say names on here but I'm really curious if this Soc teacher is gonna be the one that I am going to have to endure when my time comes up. Can you guys give us a clue on who it is???/ I know it's a female... can you give us an initial of the last name?

I hope it is not our soc210 teacher.....as a former teacher I totally

disagree with her approach to education.

Log into self-service and check your student schedule under "classes." It shows some of the teachers for the Fall classes.

I was told by a few from the last round of classes that SOC 210 is just very boring. They didn't say anything about the instructor being unreasonable.

You ought to ask some of the class that went thru how many more

papers do we have to write!!??

I don't have enough creative juice for all this!
