Watts School of Nursing June

Published

Wanted to see who else is going to Watts (Mt Olive) starting in June. I just got my acceptance letter today! Wondering who my fellow classmates will be!

Yea I guess I can't PM either because I haven't accumulated enough posts? Well anyways you may need to do the same for me. PM me and maybe I can respond to it. Or facebook? Just let me know!

I also see for Watts you have to be BLS certified. I have my CPR certification, does anyone know if this is the same thing?

Specializes in Gerontological, cardiac, med-surg, peds.

Hi everyone! Congratulations on getting into the renowned Watts program! Just a little note - to be able to send or reply to a PM, you must have 15 prior posts (which really isn't that difficult to do around here, with all our very interesting threads we have going. You can receive PMs before the 15 post threshhold, but just can't reply until you have 15 posts under your belt. Best wishes to all of you for great success in your nursing endeavors. Please be sure to check out the Nursing Student Assistance Forum and my blog for valuable advice :)

Thanks for that PM information. Hopefully I will reach those 15 posts soon.

Jx3boys~ Congrats!! Doesn't it feel awesome knowing you don't have to wait anymore?? I think the two of us must've been the last two in.

I'm in for the "get together". Just let me know where and when and what to bring.

Someone asked about working while in school....I have a lot of friends that are nurses and physicians and they all say the same thing "if you can get away without working, then do it!" There's so much studying to do on your own and if you get behind it's hard to catch back up. And being that I haven't been in school for over 25 years, I'm out of practice. That mixed with the challenges of having kids ranging from 21 down to 3 is going to add to my challenge. I gave my notice at work but they said that I can pick up shifts whenever I want.

Is anyone in charge of setting up the get together?

Thanks Red absolutely it feels great knowing the wait is over =)

Red: just pm'd you!

CMC: gotta get your posts up first. :(

Greetings all Watts newcomers!!

I've missed a few days and had to catch up.

Yes, I'm in the Ensure group too! I plan on working as long as I can. The finanacial aid thing has me confused too - all I know is I have some big loans coming up in the next few years!

I'm going to miss the orientation, but will see you all for our first Psych class.

See you soon!!!

I also heard that laptops are not necessary.

I also heard that laptops aren't necessary but with all my kids...I need my own or I'll never get any computer time.

WOW!!

I didn't realize how difficult it is for an adult to get an education loan!

I just talked to the financial aid advisor for MOC and realized that the

award letter for financial aid that I got is pretty much the extent of it

per semester. Doesn't even come close to covering tuition, let alone the

cost of books and etc... And Watts is twice as expensive as MOC!!!

Anyone gotten a private loan or had any luck outside of what you

get from FAFSA?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!! (monetary or informational :)

just doing the private loan/ VA thing... wife is going to Duke and the banks think i'm still working so that's KINDA helpful...

I will also be getting a private loan to cover tuition costs. It makes me kind of cringe every time I talk about the tuition but it will be well worth it in the end.

I also Don't ever understand the financial aid part. Thankfully I have my parents who already put my brother through college using loans. You would think we wouldn't have to revert to private loans...I hate that part of it.. but its gotta be done.
