Watts School of Nursing - January 2015

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi all!

Is anyone out there also accepted for Watts and starting their pre-reqs at UMO in January 2015? I just got my acceptance letter on August 1st and I am so excited!

I'm moving to the area from PA and I'm so nervous :nailbiting: I was just in the area at the end of July and loved it. I'm currently moving out of my apartment right now in PA but probably won't be in NC until sometime between October-November. I found some super awesome apartments while I was there, and was amazed at how commutable the whole area is (compared to Philadelphia).

I look forward to hearing from any of you out there :)

Congratulations!!!

I'm excited to meet more and more people starting with us. Hopefully more come out of the woodwork the closer we get to starting.

I've already started studying for Anatomy LOL!!

Lol thanks! I've already taken Anatomy, but I don't think they're going to take it because it's been longer than 5 years. :(

They might not. I guess you'll find out when you meet with the UMO rep that'll go over what transfer and what does not.

Yeah. Have you already met with them? I'm wondering when I can expect to hear from them.

No, I haven't met with them yet. I just submitted my FAFSA the other day but I think they don't contact anyone until October or November. I move down sometime next month, so I'm hoping it's later in the month. I'll let you know if I hear anything from them!

I should probably start looking into my FAFSA. I hope to hear from UMO soon. Good luck with your move! :)

Hey guys, just wanted to give you some perspective from a current Watts student. Watts is awesome! I am currently nearing the end of my first semester here and I can't begin to tell you hope much I've learned. You've made a wise choice! Pre req's are a breeze so don't worry! It's the actual nursing courses you'll have to really study for. If nursing really is for you, you'll do just fine! Welcome to Watts!

Hi all!

I just received my acceptance letter last week so it seems as if I will be joining yall in January! Has anyone met with an advisor yet? I'm curious about the pre-reqs and schedule!

I won't be meeting the advisor until December 17th :(

Thanks for the insight Rach2610!!

Congrats mhussey! I am meeting with UMO on Tuesday. I'm interested to see how the prereq schedule will be too. I'll post again after my meeting to let you guys know how it goes and what to expect. :)

Please let us know! I don't meet with the advisor until December 17th (seriously cutting it down to the wire) and I'm officially moving down December 1st. Things are so hectic right now!

Hey guys! The meeting went well. You will first meet with the Watts Program Coordinator and she will give you your student ID, username and password for UMO. She will then go over your schedule. I had some classes that transferred, but she already had my schedule made so I was unable to pick my classes in the order that I wanted. It worked out though so it was fine. You may be able to move them around if something doesn't work out for your schedule. I'll list them below. Once you agree to your schedule, she will talk to you about your books and explain how to order them through their bookstore online. She did say to check Amazon or other sites to compare prices because you don't have to buy them from UMO if you don't want to. That was basically it with her. Next you will meet with the finanical counselor and she will talk to you about your financial aid if you are going that route. She explained everything really well. Both ladies were really nice and helpful. Ps. The whole meeting lasted about an hour.

Here is my schedule:

Spring semester

BIO 253 1/15 - 4/2 Thurs

EDU 265 2/16 - 3/22 Online

PSY 200 3/23 - 4/26 Online

Summer semester

PSY 240 5/5 - 6/2 Tues

HIS 223 5/7 - 6/4 Thurs

REL 200 6/9 - 7/7 Tues

Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
