Hi all!

Is anyone out there also accepted for Watts and starting their pre-reqs at UMO in January 2015? I just got my acceptance letter on August 1st and I am so excited!

I'm moving to the area from PA and I'm so nervous :nailbiting: I was just in the area at the end of July and loved it. I'm currently moving out of my apartment right now in PA but probably won't be in NC until sometime between October-November. I found some super awesome apartments while I was there, and was amazed at how commutable the whole area is (compared to Philadelphia).

I look forward to hearing from any of you out there :)

Hey,

I will be relocating as to NC as well and curious about WATT

Hey Kateabooo,

Congrats on being accepted! I've just mailed my essay and apps yesterday and my transcripts should be mailed by the end of the week. I'm praying I get accepted for the January 2015 class!

I read your post on the low GPA thread and am in a similar situation. Long story short is I was young, in a bad relationship and didn't take school seriously. A lot has changed since then and I am in a way better place. I think I did pretty well on the HESI (89%) and have really good references. I explained everything in my essay and was honest about it. I'm just really hoping that they will give me a chance. I saw they called you in for an interview. Do you know if they normally do that? If you have any other advice you could give me that would be great!

Hopefully we will be classmates in January! Thanks in advance for any advice!

We scored exactly the same on the HESI (89%).

I don't believe an interview is normal as I hadn't heard of anyone else needing to go for an interview before acceptance. However, I think I had a few mitigating circumstances (applying from a couple states away, courses spaning over a couple colleges and about 8 years) tht warranted it. I'm actually really glad they asked me for an interview because not only did I get to meet the awesome admissions committee (seriously, they're great) but I got a tour of the school as well. It really gave me a chance to decide if Watts was for me.

If they ask you for an interview, just be honest. Own up to everything, don't try to sugar coat and be ready to explain how you plan to change things so you don't set yourself up for failure again. They really want to see you succeed.

Thank you for the advice! Hopefully I will hear something back soon.

Wishing you lots of luck!! My process took like 4-5mo but I am an anomaly (whatever could go wrong, went wrong. My HS messed up sending the transcripts TWICE). From talking to other Watts students, the whole process is pretty quick like around 6-8 weeks at the most. If you get a request for a background check (I got this about two weeks after I submitted my app--even though my HS transcripts weren't complete yet) it's a good sign :)

Ok great. Thanks so much for that info. I was wondering if they would send the background check regardless if they are going to accept you or not. Keeping my fingers crossed I receive mine in a couple of weeks. I will keep you posted!

Hey did you hear anything yet? I figured I would check on since its been about a month.

Hey,

No, I haven't heard anything yet. I mailed my background check in on August 26th so it's been a little over 2 weeks. I'm starting to get nervous! How long did it take to hear back from them after you sent your background check in?

Hm... let me think... I think I waited 3 weeks from sending in and then called. At that time she let me know everyrhing was good and that they wanted me to come in for a sit down/interview. Just keep a good line of communication!

Ok thanks. I will give them a call if I don't hear anything by next week. I saw where some people didn't hear back up to 6 weeks. Hopefully it won't be that long. I'll let you know how it goes either way!

Looks like we will be classmates after all! I received my acceptance letter this morning. I'm so excited and nervous all at once! Looking forward to meeting you! :)
