Washington State University (WSU) FNP - Fall 2024

Published

Hi everyone! Im wondering if anyone else here was accepted in to Washington State Universitys DNP-FNP program starting this fall 2024? Looking to maybe connect with others to share our experience with the onboarding process!

Specializes in NICU, Pediatrics.

Hello again! Just wondering if you guys were able to sign up for classes, and if you guys will be attending the DNP orientation on campus or via zoom/ virtual? I'll likely be attending virtual since Spokane is so far from Yakima, but we will see LOL.

I am attending at the Spokane campus and yes I am all signed up for my classes. I'm in:

NURS_ADV-503

NURS_ADV-504

NURS_ADV-565

NURS_ADV-581

I want to attend the orientation in-person because I live very close to campus, however I'm pregnant and it depends on where I'm at in my third trimester. My due date is 8/19 so we'll see! Really hoping to attend in-person, though, LOL.

Hi!

yes I'm all signed up for classes and taking the same ones you mentioned. I am going to go to the in person orientation! Looking forward to starting but getting NERVOUS to be in school again. O my gosh, that due date 😂 good luck with baby if I don't meet you before 😊

It looks like were all taking the same classes! My personal email is [email protected] if you guys are interested in keeping in touch throughout the classes/ program!

Yes, good luck with the baby! ☺️

I also chose the 3 year, mostly in order to qualify for the HRSA Nursing Scholarship application, LOL. I'll be at the Spokane Campus!

I'm super interested to learn more about how clinicals will go, what the shifts look like and the sites offered!

Congrats to you as well! I'm 3 year, too! I'm super excited

Hey! I am a 2025 applicant and was just curious to know how it went  for the HRSA Nursing Scholarship application, looking into it as well for this year.

Hi! I was accepted to the fall 2025 PMHNP track in Spokane. Just wondering if anyone could tell me how they are liking the 3 year program? And if anyone is working full or part time and how doable it is? I can't find a thread for this year. Thanks!

Also interested to know! I was accepted into UW and WSU so trying to make a decision!

those are the ones I am deciding between too!

Congratulations on the acceptance! I am in the FNP program, but we take a lot of our DNP classes with the PMHNP students :) I am currently in the second semester and have noticed almost everyone works a full-time job at this point. A lot of people work in various settings, primarily the hospital setting. I think once we start our clinicals that can change, and may require you to switch to part-time. I've known several people who completed their clinicals while still holding a part-time position so I think its doable. Let me know if there's anything else I can help answer! I am also a HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship recipient 🙂

Thank you so much for the info! That's awesome you are a HRSA recipient, with that do you have to pick a specific clinic or location and commit to that from the beginning or do you just have to go to one of their locations upon completing your DNP? My partner is in medical school and we will have to move back to Wyoming after his residency (which would be at the same time I graduate from this program), and I know there are many towns in Wyoming available since it is all so rural, but I don't think I could pick a specific one right now since I won't know where his job will take us so I wasn't sure if it was feasible to apply for that scholarship.

Once you graduate and obtain your license you can pick a job! They don't have you pick a job site yet until you're graduated but I think you have a certain time limit to do so. I'm also not sure if you can switch jobs once you start working for them!

I hear you, I really like the idea of UW but the once a week in class component is rough. I feel like I would be able to keep working at WSU for at least the first two years.

Let me know if you'd like to connect outside of all nurses!
