Washington State University Spring 2020 BSN

Anyone applying to WSU to start spring semester 2020? I'm working on my application now for the Spokane cohort. I'm a transfer student, and this will be a second career for me (and a second bachelors).

Looking forward to hearing from others who are also applying!

@mayflower wow, those sound like pretty good stats:( what a bummer

@Crazytrip201 wow those are great stats. Honestly my prerequisites And cum was 3.6, and teas was 75. I’m shocked you at least werent waitlisted. How did your interview go? Because your interview is a big part of their decision.

@Stephsh 2 months after the acceptance letters were send out.

hi all, I'm happy to say I got a call and made it off the waitlist! I'm wondering if anyone looking at this has been accepted to the yakima campus. I would love to chat and ask a few questions about how it's going with getting the requirements in. Thanks!

Hello everyone,

Congratulations to those who got accepted, and sorry to those who didn't. I wish you guys best of luck!!

I'm an applicant for Fall '20 admission Spokane campus. I'm a transfer student with 3.8 prereq and 3.88 cumm and 79% TEAS. I got a B in microbio which is one of the science classes so I'm very anxious :(( I'm also an international student so I think it can be a disadvantage too. I went to Green River College in Auburn WA and there are NOT many pre-nursing students... you guys see some in your colleges/uni?

Can I ask for some advice for the interview round? Like questions they asked you and stuff. I really appreciate for any advice you have tbh T__T

does anyone know how many spots they give vs. how many interviews they have?

They take 24 each cohort for yakima, not sure about the other campuses, I feel like Spokane might be 80ish? And tricities is about the same as yakima.

Thank you for responding @Stephsh

I guess I’m just nervous because I have a good GPA, of getting rejected based on the interview. I wish I knew what % of people get in from the interview if that makes sense! Does anyone know? I would just be devastated to not get in because of my interview

Sorry I know its been a while, but can anyone give any advice for the interview? How competitive is it? (how many do they interview vs. accept?)

I can't speak to how many are interviewed versus how many are accepted. But overall, I think the acceptance rate was about 25% for Spring 2020, and it is a bit more competitive for transfer students. They told us during orientation that for every person enrolled, there were three applicants who were not granted admission.

The interview is a really pleasant experience. They have current students available to sit with you while you wait for your interview. It's a nice chance to ask students about their experience. The interview itself is with two members of the faculty (or staff). It's very conversational. Be ready to discuss why you want to be a nurse, why WSU is the right fit for you, and demonstrate that you understand the role of nurses in healthcare. It's your time to sell yourself! As noted previously in this thread, I think it would be a good idea to be familiar with the WSU College of Nursing's core values and think about how your own values and desire to be a nurse aligns with them. It would also be valuable to have a generic understanding of the College of Nursing curriculum.

You'll do great!

hey y'all I'm from Texas and have no clue as to what WSU campuses to apply to and which ones to stay away from. Do y'all have any recommendations? Higher acceptance rates? Better programs?
