Hey all,

So I'm really serious about moving from Seattle to the Yakima Valley. Anyone have any tips on those hospitals?

I love eastern WA and need a change (although Seattle's weather has been fantastic lately).

Sorry can't help ya.......no plans to ever live east of the Cascades......

good luck!

:chuckle I live here in Eastern Washington and it's way too hot here in the summer. I also have to worry about the Hanford Nuclear Site blowing up and sending me back to my maker. I'm only here because My 82 year old stubborn Mom with mild Alzheimer's needs me to live with her. :o

Hey, well it's very good of you to take of your mother even though it's not your ideal location. You mean to tell me there's nothing you like about Eastern WA?

I've been in Seattle all my life and while it's OK, it certainly is not fun all the time with traffic, yuppies, and mild weather.

:chuckle Hi Zach. The only thing I like about the tri-cities in eastern Washington is seeing the mountains. The mountains remind me of the place I really want to be-Wyoming. I love the snow and can't stand hot weather. I use to live in Seattle and yes nowadays Seattle is way too crowded with too much traffic congestion. :o

LOL Blackcat! You reminded me of the days when I kept getting told "Friends don't let friends move to Kennewick"

I live in Vancouver.

A few years ago my best girlfriend (also an RN) moved to Kennewick. I was planning to follow her, and went so far as to find a duplex, a job and resign my position here. Things happened, the move didn't and by the time it was all over I was living in Stillwater, OK.

*Personally* I don't care for the hot summers and cold winters Eastern WA has. If I was going to make the move now I would look for somewhere well within the Yakama Valley as it is a bit milder.

:roll It's so true! "Friends don't let friends move to Kennewick" I had a friend from West Virginia who told me she was going to move here but I insisted "No way" I think she was offended when I told her no.

I live in Olympia now, but grew up in Walla Walla. I think it's beautiful over there. It's a little isolated (and there are only 2 hospitals), but it's a great place to raise a family. It gets VERY hot in the summer and usually has the nation high at least once where it'll get up to 115 degrees. The winters can be cold and icy. I don't know how you can live in Seattle with ALL THAT TRAFFIC! It drives me crazy! Good luck on your decision.....

I, too, have thought about making a change to the other side. But only for a year or so for a break. Last Friday I left Shoreline and the traffic was stop and go all the way to Marysville. Just ridiculous.

Todd you commute from Shoreline to Marysville? Wow, you must be taking beta blockers, just kidding.

I actually graduated from Shoreline's nursing program and live in South Everett. I hate I-5 of course when I lived in Woodinville I hated 405 too. Anyway, Yakima sounds better and better every day.

Believe me the nursing mentality in Eastern Wa.(with Spokane being the exception) is not what I would call normal (and I will leave it at that!). If you like hot summers and cold winters and don't have to work well then you would love it in Eastern Wa. Otherwise you ought to just stay put!

I have consulted for a previous company which took me to Eastern Wa. During that time I had many interactions with nurses and the logic/common sense or lack thereof blew my mind. I thought good Lord where in the world did they learn to be nurses??? Anyway that is just my humble opinion, feel free to disregard it.
