Washington Hospital Center July 2011

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hi I am wondering if anyone has heard anything about Washington Hospital Center or any other DC hospitals that are having a Summer 2011 New Nurse Residency program? Thanks in Advance!

Specializes in Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).

I'm interviewing on 5/9. Is anyone else interviewing this day or before? Please let me know!

My preference is Cardiac, wondering what the Cardiac Nurse Manager will ask if I'm lucky enough to meet him/her.

Again, good luck to all :)

I'm also interviewing on 5/9 at WHC, for IMC, ED, or Oncology (1st-3rd choice). There are a number of Cardiac wards at WHC - any one in particular you're interested in (e.g Cardiac Surgical, Cardiac Medical, Cardiac Outpatient, Cardiac Observation(procedure related)? Runs the gamut from transplants, to LVADs, to more routine things like CABGs and angioplasty.

I'm told WHC will hire 100+ nurses to start in July. The first 35 hired will be WHC Scholars at Georgetown University (a scholarship program sponsored by WHC - guaranteed jobs after graduation). THe rest of the positions are wide open.

Hi Everyone,

I just applied this morning. I already sent back a reply to the email asking for GPA, licensure, etc... I am so anxious to see if I get an invitation for an interview! Wish me luck :)

Hey guys,

So I received my invitation for interview today and I replied with my choices and got my confirmation back as well. I am down for May 23, few days before I graduate :redbeathe Good Luck to everyone.. I hope the process will be as fun as when i interviewed to be a tech there. :)

Hello everyone! I just applied today and hope to receive an interview invite soon! (Too bad I applied on a Friday--it's gonna be a long weekend waiting ;-) I am from Arkansas and really hoping to move to DC and get a job at WHC! Has anyone else that has applied and gotten interview confirmation from out-of-state? I'm hoping it isn't a disadvantage :-/

Wish me luck!!

HEY girl I am interviewing May 23 as well!!!!

Pokytroky-

I'm going to PM you so hopefully you get it . Honestly, I'd be into any of those Cardiac Units. If I'm able to interview for Cardiac I think the specific unit will already be identified though, whichever needs staffing, etc. I think I'd learn a lot in Cardiac Medical, Cardiac Observations I'd be super excited for and Cardiac Surgical would be like a 2 for 1 deal I think, haha.

Other interviewees (Mandy2point0, FuturenurseT, BlessedNurs, an121na) what are you all looking to get into? I submitted (1) Cardiac, (2) IMC, (3) Med/Surg. I'd love ED as well though.

Hey does any one know how to PM someone on here??

I am interested in anything but put NICU, MED/SURG/ Oncology!!

Is any one else getting the feeling they just interview EVERYONE??! it's making me feel like my chances are wayyyy slimmer if so..... btw, I'm not from DC or the area...so does any one have any info on the hospital in general/how many interviews theyve given out vs. how many they'll hire this July?/ Tips for interview process?

Thanks yall, and good luck! Let's keep this thread going so we can update each other!!

I definitely don't think they interview everyone and am very pleased (borderline honored) to get an interview with so many New Grads being on the market. I still think they'll take many more interviewees (possible made up word) though for the (at least) eight interview dates AKA keep hope alive to any and all :)

Like I stated before, I read past programs stating interview 200, hire 100/120 but I imagine only the Nursing Recruiters know what they want for this July. To answer your q's I'd read past WHC program message boards, they go over most of those topics that only those that have done it can answer.

Hey guys,

I've been at the hospital for about a year as a float tech PRN. So i kind have a feel of how the different floors are. My choices were 1) Cardiac 2) Med 3) oncology. I'm hoping to just be my self during the interview. The recruiters are humans like us and they are usually down to earth. The interview question i usually stumble on is give an example of a conflict you had at work with an employee and how did you solve it? Honestly, i haven't had a big fallout w/ anyone. So I'll probably make up a scenario and stick to that. haha Other than that i think it should be the usual strength/ weakness. why u wanna work @ WHC. Conflict resolution. I'm not sure about the clinical questions from the nurse managers though.

Hey Poky...,

I read in another thread that u applied to JHopkins...for their entry level RN. Did u ever hear back from them. I applied there as well.

Hey Poky...,

I applied for a "Nurse Clinician" job there today. That's the fourt one of these jobs I've applied for. In the first two, they later told me the job had been put on hold. The last one I applied for, they told me they'd forwarded my resume to the nurse manager, and THEN told me a few weeks later that the job had been put on hold.

So my experience applying at JHH hasn't been stellar! LOL

At least at WHC I know for sure they have real openings for new grads every summer, and they're hiring a bunch of us in July and October.

I applied today so now I am praying, hoping and waiting to see if I get selected for an interview! I hope they are not just interviewing everyone, I also am not rom the DC area!

Does anyone know what GPA they are looking for?

If they are only hiring BSN grads?

Well nursingyogi tomorrow is the big day NCLEX GOOD LUCK!
