Washington Hospital Center July 2011

U.S.A. Washington DC

Hi I am wondering if anyone has heard anything about Washington Hospital Center or any other DC hospitals that are having a Summer 2011 New Nurse Residency program? Thanks in Advance!

YnotAsk, I take my boards on April 27th as well. What program were you in? I wrote it in my Cover Letter when I was scheduled to take the boards so they would know 'I'm not slacking off' haha.

I've already submitted my application but have been looking towards this program for months while I was still in Nursing School so I wanted to get it in asap. Good luck! :D

Hi everyone! I am a senior nursing student and I graduate this May. I applied to the residency program at WHC for this coming July and I have already recieved interview confirmation! I haven't taken my boards yet but they still offered me an interview, so don't let that deter you from applying! I would love to hear about everyones progress with interviewing etc. Good luck!:)

wow already that was fasttt :yeah:

Mandy when did you apply??

Congratulations Mandy! Yes, could you let us know what day you applied?

Also, what day did you receive their interest to interview you (phone/email?)? What day are you interviewing?

Sorry for the questions, just want to push forward :) Good luck! I imagine you'll do wonderful on the interview!!

Hi All! I applied on 4/11, recieved an email the next day asking me GPA, liscensure status, etc., which I responded to immediately. I then received an email for an interview request on 4/14, where I was given a set of dates to choose from. I chose my interview date and I recieved an email confirming my interview today! It did happen very fast! Super exciting!

very exciting, thank you for the information! Sending good nursing interview vibes your way & other posts from past Residency programs (February, etc) really made it sound like a productive but relaxed interviewing environment.

Thanks nursingyogi! I've been reading the other threads and it does seem to be a great environment with great people. I'm really looking forward to it! Have you applied yet? I wish you luck!

Oops, scratch that... I see above that you have :). You should be hearing something soon too then!

Specializes in Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).

I applied online and received my invitation email yesterday. I need to select from a list of available interview dates, and specify my 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice for where I'd like to work.

Problem is, I really want to work in ICU (where I did my Practicum), but that's not on the list of available positions. I'm still checking to see if there are going to be openings in Oncology or not.

I'll probably interview in early June, after I've got my final grades (2nd degree BSN program), but before I take the NCLEX (probably late June). My understanding is that you're expected to take and pass the NCLEX before your start date at WHC.

Has anyone heard whether we can shadow on a unit before our interview day?

That's great. Best of luck to ya. Did you also apply on the 11th? I currently work there as a tech and applied as an internal applicant. I'm hoping to hear something soon.

I applied on the 13th, and got an email yesterday from nurse recruiting listing which specialties were open for new grads, and gave me a list of dates/times I could interview in May, June or early July. I believe the new grad start date is late July.

Good luck on your application!

Hi everyone,

I just received confirmation to Interview! I'm ecstatic and encourage others to stay hopeful, I know it was a rough few days waiting and reading others had interviews (though happy for them!).

I applied 4/13, received their request to interview yesterday 4/20 where I wrote my unit preference and date available to interview, and then received confirmation today 4/21.

I'm interviewing on 5/9. Is anyone else interviewing this day or before? Please let me know!

Also, if anyone has any information if they're looking to interview and hire about the same numbers as February (read interview 200, hired 100/120) that'd be helpful! Or any general tips with the WHC interview process and how to get hired would be great, haha!

My preference is Cardiac, wondering what the Cardiac Nurse Manager will ask if I'm lucky enough to meet him/her.

Again, good luck to all :)
