hey guys,
I start this fall in my nursing program and Im extremely anxious!!! Im looking for any advice that will help me in school. Whats the thing you can NOT live w/o during nursing school? What was the best study method for you? Index cards, recorders, palm pilots? What should I take to clinicals? I know you all were anxious when u started!!!
thanks guys
p.s. ....im hoping this will end up being a HUGE thread that other anxious students can read
I LOVE this website... I've been skulking around here for a while, waiting for my letter of acceptance or denial (and I did get in, yay! Congrats to everyone else, as well ) and this is probably the best thread I've read so far. I'm EXTREMELY nervous about starting in August, but reading all this has really helped my anxiety.
Well the date is getting closer and I am so excited, but nervous because this is a total change for me. I am a customer service representative at Delta Airlines. I have gotten my titers, tb test, tetorifice, and I have to go get a drug test. I have not purchased anything yet but I am very excited. Class starts Aug. 27, I will have class Tuesday and Wednesday Nsg120 and Nsg126. My clinicals wil be Thursday & Friday, hopefully am. I hope everyone starting in the fall will post their 1rst week experiences. Good luck to all and keep us posted. BUMP, keep this thread going!
I must say, I have also been stalking around this site looking for every tiny bit of information I can get for nursing school. I start this September!!! I have to thank everyone on here that took the time out to help all of us newbies, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how excited and nervous we are.
I do have to admit that I am feeling mildy nerdy when I walk into a Walmart now because I feel the need to look at all the new school supplies that I might need for NS!! lol But of course its all in good fun and it can only help me in the long run.
KEEP THIS THREAD GOING!!!
:lol2:HAHAHAHAHA, Christie, I TOTALLY did that at Walmart a few days ago... I wandered around the sections, telling my boyfriend about how I'm going to need highlighters, Sharpies, etc, etc, etc. Needless to say, he rolled his eyes and walked away, muttering about how school doesn't even start for another month. They just don't get it!

I love going to the big office supply stores and looking around before school starts every semester! And no, they DON'T get it .
lol u guys, we are all in the same boat!!! I felt like a nerd too as I wrestled with rather or not to buy a fancy 3 hole puncher and other random office supplies. I picked up a protracter and worried if I would need it. My husband acted that same way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol.....he said i would never use a protracter in nursing school...which i probbaly wont. But it was only like 50 cent and it matched my pencil bag..lol
lol i did all my back to school shopping too while i hear other shoppers complaining about the stuff being out to early. i wanted to explain to them that people do start as early as aug. 10, but kept my mouth shut. my boyfriend acts the same way. luckily, he got out of going back to school shopping. i decided i just had to buy the 27 cent glue sticks because i know i'll be making a poster or something sometime and just couldn't pass up 27 cents.

If everything works out *crosses fingers*, I'll be starting Sept 8th! I so hope everyone posts about their first weeks, too! I find out my schedule on July 29th. All I know is I'll be in class in the AM.
I already bought a programmable coffee maker:yeah:The smell of coffee will drag me out of bed at 6am.

So true about wanting to drop people in the ocean - some are just that way.
You're paragraph about how you & your son talk about NS brought tears to my eyes. I may not be a single Mom, but I am doing this to better myself and to make a better life for my family too.
Thanks for the encouragement!
