Want the real scoop on new grad pay in Mississippi?

U.S.A. Mississippi

Published

I just got back from a meeting at Baptist in Jackson. I have lots of information on their new grad salaries and benefits. I'd be happy to share, if anyone is so inclined just let me know. If no one is curious, I'm not going to waste the time typing it up.

Tomorrow, I'll be visiting UMC in Jackson and Friday I'll be at Rush in Meridian. I'd be glad to share those details as well. :)

What is the current base pay in UMC, Baptist and St. D this 2010, benefits? I have an interview i. Those and i dont know where to go. I have a BSN RN and want to do further studies later as NP. Does UMC have nurse scholarships?

MissRN0520, did you find out the answer to your question? You had interviews at all 3 hospitals, which one hired you?

I do know that River Oaks starts a new grad out at base $19/hr and they have shift differentials as well. I am interviewing at UMC on Tuesday and would love to know if you are working there!

Hallo! Got a job at the UMC. Base pay is $19. And if you have work exp it'll go higher but you really need to present a work experience cert. Added $1.52 for 2 years. Work is busy but am lovin it. No sign on bonus though.

River Oaka has sign on bonus of $4000 or $5000 for 3 years i think. I already threw he papers for that so im not sure.

MS still has nursing shortage. To new grads, don't lose hope. God bless!

I am really not sure. A cardiac area possibly, the word was thrown around when I spoke with their recruiter. But I'll take pretty much whatever as long as its not ER or Psych and as long as its a 7a-7p shift. I just want some good experience so I can further my career.

What was UMCs interview process like? Did they hire you right then or how long was it before you knew you got the job?

What area do you work in?

River Region Medical Center In Vicksburg - $18.35  an hour. (36 hr work week)

Happy I got a job but not real sure how they think I'm going to support my family on that income. They have a $5000 sign on but you have to agree to 2 years -i'm not sure it's worth it to me when I can get a job in a year making $20+. Hmmmm... I really wanted a place that I could stay with for a while. I'll try to be positive and hope for the best!

You could have selected the baylor/weekend option for about 26.00 days or 31.00 nights. If you have at least a year experience in med-surge, river region also has the SAC option 40.00 days, 45.00 nights. The sign on bonus does suck. I just realized they pay it to you in pieces.
