I constantly read about how poor Walden university (as well as all of the other online programs) are in terms of education experience. But I would like to hear success stories from graduates of the program either with their FNP or AG-ACNP. A flexible program is key for me due to my personal life, but too many people are saying that I won’t be able to find a job, let alone a clinical placement. Let get those success stories rolling in!

What makes Walden so much more flexible than the numerous other online NP programs with better reputation?
Most online programs have some component of logging in at a certain time each week. I’m also having a bit of a hard time getting rec letters

The above thread is very entertaining. As far a Walden goes, some graduates do well while others may not. I have read here how hospitals in the area of Walden do not hire their graduates. The university is bashed a lot of this site so you may not hear from current or former students much because of this.

Agreed. There are some on this site that I sense have a personal issue with Walden and aggressively bash it every chance they get. That aside, you get out of online programs what you put in. Same with any school format you choose. I am halfway through the PMHNP program at Walden. It has been very challenging. I hold two degrees from brick and mortar schools, and I do not feel that Walden is inferior to my previous experiences. The online format is simply a different approach. My cousin graduated from Walden’s FNP program a year ago, and had a job lined up prior to taking her boards. She is doing well and is happy she chose the program.

I responded in that thread. I'm sure there are many anecdotal evidence that Walden grads do fine and I'm sure there are some dissatisfied students as well. I personally would not attend Walden simply because I would not with a straight face be able to say in social circles that I am a Nurse Practitioner and I got my degree from Walden. Call me a snob all you want...just a personal opinion. If my only option is an online format, I would have gone to schools where I could proudly display my diploma...UAB is a very affordable program with name recognition and has an online option. I would put all the effort I could to get stellar recommendations to get in.

Read that thread. This topic is just going to rehash that.
