Walden NP programs

Who out there has graduated or is near graduation in Walden's NP program? I start June 1st, just looking for insight on the program itself. I would like to know if the material is geared toward learning body systems or just writing long paper with correct format. I really want to learn and be a knowledge NP. I'm going with the geriatric NP degree. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I'm starting waldens adult geriatric acute care NP program June 1st. Don't know anything about it yet but I'm interested in hearing all about it!

I'm also doing the acute care adult / geriatric program! I'm just looking for insight from those who have done the program, and get some feedback . I'm sure you get what you put in, but just curious of the overall content. Good luck with the program!

Sorry I'm an FNP student at Walden. I would only be able to tell you about the MNS-FNP program...if you have general questions about the school I'm happy to answer whatever you'd like though

I am also starting the AGNP program June 1st. Although I have 2 prereqs 2 take. I can say from talking with other students it's alot of paper writing. You can log into the walden community and ask the students. I didn't even think to ask this and it's a good question. I'd like to know the answer!

I have just finished taking advanced pathophysiology in Walden's FNP program with 2 courses to go prior to beginning my practicum portion. Beginning the program I took 2 core classes at a time, and continuing to work FT this was overwhelming at times. Now that I am in my specialty course work I am taking these by themselves. This stretches out the program time for me but I'd like to pass and retain as much content as possible. The coursework in general is challenging. You are expected to do more than the minimum to get a good grade. As far as papers, usually there is at least 4 papers required for each course, discussion questions to answer and respond to peers 3-4 days per week, along with many chapters per week that you are required to read. Once you get to your specialty courses, you are required to generally read more, find your own resources for research papers (still 4-5 assignments per course), theres an average of 4-9 chapters (some weeks there's more or less) to read per week, there is one discussion question that requires an original post plus responses to classmates 3 different days per week, and a required quiz due by Sunday (quizzes are every week even when there is an assignment due). If I remember correctly, in the beginning of the program in one or two classes we were put into a designated group of 4-5 students and had to do a group study guide but other than that group work is not required. This program is not for those that do not want to work. In most MSN programs, as in this one, the student must obtain a B or better to pass each course. If anyone has any more specific questions, I will be happy to answer as best as I can. Good luck all. :)

Hello, I am also in Walden's FNP program. I just finished advanced patho and will be starting adv pharm in June. Any advice you can give regarding adv pharm? Did you feel as if you retained as much info as necessary after taking adv patho to assist you in getting through adv pharm? At this point I feel overwhelmed at the amount of info and want to make sure I'm prepared for the practicum. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)
