Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

Published

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

I can't apply this July because I won't finish my Cna and the test in time. I will have to wait until January. í ½í¸ží ½í¸ží ½í¸ž Good luck CN_2bRN919 tomorrow!!

U are going to do great!!!

I'm loving you all's points, lol. I really hope my points will get me in, not as an alternate.

Okay so here's my advice for the CNA; my skills were: Radial pulse, bed pan, catheter care, hand washing and dentures. I had no idea what I was doing and I was for sure that I didn't do good, because only 1 out of the 8 or so before me passed. I spoke to the patient as if they were real, especially while doing the catheter care. What I mean by that was I told her what I was doing next, how much more I had left, etc. The bed pan, I also spoke to the patient in letting them know my every move. The dentures wasn't bad at all. Just remember patient safety, introducing yourself, etc. Bring your second hand watch and 2 pencils.

Thank you so much for the advice Jpeters247! I'm definitely not as nervous as I was! Does anyone know if you take the TEAS again, can you sit for specific sections of the exam... or do you have to take the entire test again as a retake? I was hoping I could sit for the two sections I didn't do the best in without having to take the entire exam over. I really want those 20 points!!

You will get in!!! How did you do in your last semester? I think we had the same classes. Really excited for the next phase of our lives!! Where did you get scrubs? I start clinical in June. Hope everyone has a good weekend!!!

gotgifts3, somehow I managed to pull A's in both classes, even after not doing too hot on my BIO 155 final. I'm so hard on myself because this will probably be the only application cycle (spring 2017) I apply, so I really want to put my best foot forward and have the highest possible points I personally can achieve. I got my scrubs for clinical at Walmart. I had to go to a couple of different locations because some locations have better size selections than others. I bought two sets and did laundry on Wednesday so my scrubs were clean for Thursday. Good luck to you! Clinical was the best part! Your class is going by fast!

You're at 186 now right? That's a seat for sure.

Have you completed every class? That's a great amount of points!! Jpeters247 how many points do you have?

gotgifts3, that is ALL of the classes. The only way I could get more points is if I get 20 points from the TEAS. I only got 12. I did the math to see how much I would need to improve in order to get a 91, and it's not worth it. I would need to improve in my two lowest sections by 15 points! They also increased the price of the TEAS to $55. I just don't want to pay that much money and not get the grade I want. Although I have to pay to even see if I can get a better grade lol. In order for a student to get a 91 they would have to get close to the 90's, if not above, on all four sections. Ms. BW said that most students only get 6 points anyways and only some will get all 20. My lowest sections were English and Reading. I couldn't miss more than 2 in the English and 3 in the Reading (based off of my previous test scores) if I wanted to get all 20 points! Anything is possible though I guess.

Hoping to get the 12 points myself. With that and my grades it will be 159. I decided against retaking classes this summer and Ms. Watkins said it wasn't worth it either. So yeah those are my points my friends. I take the Teas on Thursday, registered for that already.

Jpeters247 that's great!!!! I missed the six points on the teas by two points. My computer kept shutting down and a lot of had to keep rebooting. It threw my whole concentration off. Good luck on the teas!! You got this.

That is an awesome accomplishment!!! I know you are so proud of yourself. I need to finish the Cna and take bio169 in the fall. Then I will apply in January. At least it's not that far away!!

Jpeters247, good luck! I am sure you will ace it! Is your 159 without the TEAS factored in?
