:angryfire So...on my registration date, I tried to do phone reg...but it wouldn't go through, not to mention that the courses I wanted (A&P, Dev Psych) were closed--no matter which course# I put in, LOL..they are filled up! Then at the end, it told me "you are not eligible for registration at this time, please see the Registrar". Ummmm, okay. So I tried online, same result. After working all day 0630-1500 and picking up my youngling, I headed on over to the college and waited in the loooong line, got up there explained the situation (and how the CLASSES WERE BEING FILLED UP, SINCE IT HAD BEEN 2 DAYS SINCE MY REG. DATE).
Well, wouldn't ya know...the college employee picks up her phone, dials the registration line, and BAM puts me in the Dev.Psych class (wrong dates and times) and her eyes at me like I was low functioning. LOL, I tell you, it DID NOT WORK the past 2 days.
Anyhoo, I ended up just enrolling in Nutrition and Developmental Psych, so that next semester I can have priority registration! Of course, I am going to show up the first night of A&P to see if I can be added, but if not...hey, I am working on 2 other courses. Just had to share my frustration.
Did everyone else get in their courses?
when i worked in the advising office of the cc i used to attend, students were advised to go to the class, add form in hand, and see if people didn't show up or if the instructor would allow extra's. being a science class, they probably won't allow extra students as lab space is usually pretty limited. you might also email the instructor and show up to class.persistence pays off!!! i'm also a member of the "mouse click" club, refreshing and clicking repeatedly, trying to get into a class :)

right. that is where i am at now in the grand scheme of things. i went ahead and signed up for 2 other classes, one of which i am going to drop if i can add the a&p (which is the one i really want, so i can be done at the end of spring semester).
as for registration dates, of course if you have an earlyone (due to being honors, continuing or whatever) then you are most likely going to get what you want. but, see the thing is, i am a new student at this campus, so i didnt get the last registration date, but was damn near it. i of course, did have several course listings. the way our computer reg. works, you just put in the class (in my case amy 2a) and the campus, and the computer will create a list of all those courses, it's cool because it shows you the available/allowed/wait listed numbers in that order like 0/34/9. umm...yes, they all had 0/34/9 and 0/34/not allowed. lol:lol2:
i know when i took anatomy last semester *had to drop for stupid stress reasons not related to the class, but related to work and life*, our instructor added several people, so i hope this works at this campus as well.
as for online---i think that for science i would prefer real live instruction and labs, not to be doing it alone. i am taking other things online though--dev psych and nutrition.
well, i better head over to the registration site, and get to clickin refresh like so many of you suggested lol it just may work.
Hi,Why don't you think about taking A&P online. You could take it anywhere in the country that way. Lots available. Check with your school advisor to see if they accept online courses. These are legitimate courses. PEM me for more information. [email protected]
Some places require that course to have a lab component.
I just made someone very happy this week by dropping Accelerated A & P I & II for the fall at JCTCS in Kentucky. I couldn't make 4 days of labs/week and decided to take it through Rio Salado online. Hope I made the right decision! When I dropped it there were 35 people waiting for a spot to open up!
I feel your pain, there were three sections of A&P3 last Spring, one filled 4 minutes after registration, the next closed 9 minutes after registration started and the third was closed an hour after registration started. Oh and registration started at 6:00am. Thankfully, I got in the second section.
One thing I would recommend for you though is to e-mail the Professor now, that way if multiple extra folks show up on the first day, you've at least already made contact.
Good Luck!!
Peace,
Cathie
I go to a CC, and its hard to get classes there too. They fill up fast. The first couple of semeters I wasn't tasp exempt, and could not register online. I would go to the college on the first day of registration and wait. We were given a beeper, and had to stay on campus. The wait to see an advisor was often 4 or 5 hours. Now I am Tasp exempt and have priority registration I do it online the first day available. One of my classes End of life issues filled up before priority registration ended. I got a spot, but that would mean anyone who didn't have priority registration didn't have a chance.

Sounds horrid! What is tasp btw? I am noticing some schools seem to just OPEN registration and everyone just goes for it once open, whereas others, like here in Cali, you are given your own registration date and sometimes even a time. LOL. But I have been clicking as you guys adivised!!
So this is what I did all this morning. Success! After five hours, I was able to switch my nutrition class to a better time.
Oh boy!!! Well, I'm glad you got a better time for your class!! That's what happened when I took A&P...the class I wanted was full, so I just happened to be checking one day and someone had dropped that class and I got in!!! Thank goodness!!
True, I would do it that way if so allowed...but, at this school (and all of them out here in Cali, that I know of) you are given a registration date & time..at this CC you are only given a date, and cannot register BEFORE that. So, I was 08/15, and others *even my coworker* got like 08/14 and 08/10 etc. LOL, so it sucks.I think I can add if people drop or DONT EVEN SHOW UP to the first class. That is how cut throat they are, if you aren't there the first meeting, BUH-BYE!:monkeydance: But I agree with that, because those classes are high priority, so I have my fingers crossed.
That sounds like an unfair way of having people sign up for their classes!!! My suggestion - if you know someone who had an earlier date, if it won't interfere with their classes, have them snag a spot for you, then get on the phone with them when your date comes around and have them drop it and you grab it...I did that once when I wasn't enrolled the previous semester and didn't have priority enrollment. I thought the class was going to fill up and had my friend take as spot for me...

Which way is unfair? I thought all schools gave out registration dates based off what another poster said: continuing students, transfer students, honors programs, new students, re-entry students and late adds. Is this not true of other schools outside of california? I know this is how it is done here, just dont pay attention to the order I put up--LOL, I was just throwing the categories out there.
As for the "late add, wait list" thing...that's pretty much the fairest way they can come up with once registration has been filled. So, for the class that is full for me, I will show up along with several other hopefulls, who will then see how many if any people have dropped the course, or did not show up to the 1st meeting (which it lets you know in the catalogue that for certain impacted sections, you will be dropped or your spot given away) and see if we can be added.
This new school I am enrolling in, they let you assign yourself to the waitlist online/over the phone when you reg. and the class is full *certain courses*, and they let you know that as people drop and spots open up, you will be automatically added etc. Which is nicer thanhaving to keep calling phone reg/checking online all day and night! as for having someone enroll to "snag me a spot"...:uhoh21: I cannot imagine this working, simply because, as other posters have said--people are hawking those spots, and as soon as one person drops, another person adds..and that person may not be me.
but if it works at some schools,i am not knocking it!!
So, I am now off to check online again LOL.
