Hi, everyone. It is my first post on this forum, despite the fact that this forum has helped me through nursing school, NCLEX prep, and now seeking my first RN job. I am an ADN graduates from CA, moved to WA right after graduation. To start in a brand new state and brand new city is difficult, only imaging looking for your first job as new graduate RN. I have attended numerous local career fair at different hospitals, universities and random places. I have got to know a lot of people and they start to get to know me. It is a long but rewarding experience because in the end, those experiences will help you in future job seeking throughout your life time.
I have recently got a phone interview with one of the healthcare organization. It was my first phone interview, and I thought I performed poorly and was nervous about the result. The recruiter told me the result should be within one week. I waited for one week, and near the end, I was getting absolutely frustrated. I was about to follow up with the recruiter today, and I got a call in the morning. It was a different person and she said she was trying to reach me about the second interview, via email, but I never replied. I was skeptical because I checked my email everyday and due to my anxiety, I checked about every hour but just did not see the email I have been waiting for. I mentioned that fact to her and she immediately said, oh you should check you junk folder, because that is often where their emails end up. "Oh~~~~~~Junk Folder"!!! That is how I felt exactly at the moment. I immediately went and checked, and there it is, the email I have been waiting anxiously for, lying peacefully in my junk folder. It was actually send the day after my phone interview, and she even followed up two days later with another email. Both of them were unread, unresponded, while the person who is waiting for them is getting an anxiety attack. At that moment, I could not feel more stupid.
I just did not think enough, or did not have enough experience to cover that aspect. Therefore, I would like to remind everyone, if you are actively seeking a job, make sure to check your junk folders if you have been waiting for more than 2-3 days for a response from recruiter or hiring manager. Even if your first email with the company was in your regular inbox, the subsequent can still be filtered into junk mail. It is super simple but sometimes the simpleness is what being missed. Also, if you are checking emails on iphone, they don't necessarily automatically update your junk folder. Some times you have to enter the folder and manually refresh it (scroll the screen downward).
Hope everyone receives what you have been waiting for very soon, and good luck to everyone's job seeking!
P.S. I finally was able to schedule for the interview, and I won't be making the same mistake again. =D
