Waiting on NCLEX-PN results.....

Hello everyone....

I am just writing for a little piece of mind and some support (hopefully) from fellow nursing students/nurses. I just recently sat for my NCLEX-PN. By far the most nerve-wrecking test of my life. The computer shut-off at 85 questions and I had at least 7 select all that apply, which I have heard is a good sign. Halfway through the test I literally thought I was going to lose it :crying2:, I just wanted to break down and start crying as I thought I was surely headed for destruction. After I regrouped, I had a small self-talk and I was convinced that the computer would keep going past the infamous 85, well when I answered question 85 and the computer shut-off I thought I was going to lose it (again) :eek:.....I have been on edge for 3 days just anxiously awaiting the results. I have visited several (probably several thousand :rolleyes:) websites just getting some insight about this NCLEX-PN exam. So, from what I gather having the computer shut-off at 85 oftentimes is a good sign, having a lot of select all that apply and priority type questions is a good thing, and also recieving the "error message" on the Pearsonvue website is a good indicator; which all happened to me!

I am just not 100% convinced that all of this is just not a coincidence...is it? I mean who really knows? What are the chances that a person fails at 85 questions? Wouldn't the computer keep going if you were doing that horrible, I would hope that it would allow me more time to redeem myself. Ugh, the wait is killing me, I live in a state where we do receive the quick results but with the long holiday weekend I will not receive them until Monday :mad:.

As of now, the only relief that I am having is the hope that the pearson vue re-register trick actually works! Any help, guidance, and support would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm sorry this is such a long ongoing message, I am just driving my family nuts with the continued talk of the NCLEX, they are very supportive but they just do not fully understand.....so again, I have come here to discuss my many mixed array of emotions. Ok, I'm finally leaving now....thanks in advance for any help :).

When did you take your test? You do know you can get your results on the holiday? A few people on here posted a thread that they got their results on Christmas, so you can probably check today. Or check the board of nursing website for your state to see if your license # is up there. Blessings to you!

I actually received my results today....I passed:yeah: I am so excited! The wait was horrible but definitely worth it, I actually had to pay for the quick results from Pearson Vue because the results are still not posted on the board of nursing website.

Congrats! I figure your results were already in, what material did you study with? I take my test this month, I'm ready, I can't wait. Please give us advise!

Sheila, I used Davis and Lippincotts study material! It is hard to say what will actually help you pass the NCLEX examination, I was clueless as to what kind of information I should focus on. I just spent a lot of time answering the practice questions that were in the PN review books that I purchased. If I got the question wrong I made sure that I really understood the rationale as to why I got it wrong.

Congrats!!! I will be taking mine shortly also. Were the NCLEX questions formatted the same as the review books or were they completely different? I have heard mixed information.

congrats ..so you just answered alot of practice questions? and did you feel those books really helped you

Zeppzepp, its hard to say only because all of the books are formatted differently. Each question on your NCLEX is on 1 seperate page. So, you have 1 question and 4 choices per page (unless of course you have a select all that apply). I am not sure if your school uses ATI at all but if so I would say that it is comparable to that! Sorry, this may seem so vague but that's about all there is to it for the NCLEX. Please keep us updated after you take your NCLEX, maybe you will have some insight for others :)!

LPN2BE, I did answer a lot of PN practice questions and I have mixed feelings about the books, I felt that the information that was presented/asked in the books was fairly easy; so I felt confient when answering those questions, it was helpful to critically think through those questions however, I do not feel as though those questions prepared me for the type of information that was asked on the NCLEX (does that make sense)? Being able to critically think is a huge key to passing the test (my personal opinion).
