Hi all,
I am a new RN, just graduated May, 2010 and passed the NCLEX June, 2010. I have sent out many resumés with little response. I finally started working in a Long Term Care facility, which isn´t exactly my cup of tea but I wanted to get some nursing experience. To make a long story short, I FINALLY got a call for an interview with a local hospital in the Birthing Center, which is my dream job. My interview went really well I thought, but it was about 2 weeks ago and I haven´t heard anything back, good or bad. Does anyone know if getting a call for a second interview can take this long? The position is a part-time one, but still working in the Birthing Center is a passion of mine. What do you think? Should I give up hope, or is there still a chance of getting the job?

Stay hopeful. Sometimes these processes can take some time. There is a good chance that you are not the only one who applied and they are waiting to interview more people before making a decision.

You could call the Human Resources and ask if the position has been filled...you don't have to give your name.
Good luck!!
Thank you for the encouraging comment! I know there were several applicants and interviews. :)

Did you send a thank-you for the interview card? Anyway; 2 weeks isn't all that long. Call or email them and ask what's up. I'm sure they are use to people calling to find out if the position has been filled.

Check with human resources first and if you didn't get the position, send a thank you letter. Make them aware of your interest in working in that department and that you would like to be giving another opportunity in the future if a RN position opens. Good luck and I hope you get this L&D position! :)
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I did send a thank you card immediately after the interview. I will call or email on Monday and see if the position is filled :)
Thanks again everyone :)
So what happened? Did you hear about the position?

Hospitals always take a lot time to get back to you. I would call them up and ask what's going on. Good luck!!!! I hope you get the job!
