Like I said before submit the day you finish a shift or at least the week you finish your cases. I submitted my days on different days. I work 9 hrs and then 12 so I waited til I finished the 12 hr. shift and submitted both.There are so many lines you can enter shifts on.I know when I got to the end of that page I couldn't add more lines for some reason though. I was told by the RN that it would take 3 months because emed takes that long. I made mistakes also so that added to it and they wouldn't recognize numbers ect. I even had a relative of the RN working on why it was taking so long. Yes, it is frustrating! You just have to keep up on your billing-it makes it SO much easier when you do. HAve you gone in and checked the status of your billing? I have been doing my bnilling for 1 yr. this month and it took 6 months for mine to finally catch up.

Yes- 3 months without a paycheck.. not fun. You'll be waiting by the mailbox for a long time if it is the same for you. My 1st submission-over $3,000 was denied and it took them a while to straighten it out. I was told it would be months-it gets frustrating. After you submit your claims go to the REALTIME responses and check to see if it was denied.I submit as REALTIME PROFESSIONAL. I am not sure if states operate differently on billing or not.

I waited for over 3 months to get a paycheck! I make $21.89hr. and have a fragile child code, Make sure you enter everything or it gets rejected-especially any prior approval numbers. If you don't submit by a certain day and time it won't go into the pay cycle. It's a pay cycle of every 2 weeks. I was told by the RN I work with that ours has to be submitted by 6pm on Monday in NY.I submit the minute I get home or by the next day if possible. I started in December of last year and just this month it is finally catching up! It's nice thought o get a couple of thousnd dollars at a time-lol! The only problem I had is when I first started and they wouldn't recognize some of my info-very frustrating to say the least! There are people to help at emed so just call if you have problems. I called a few times-some are nice ,some are not-just like any other business. Good luck-hope you have another source of income.

Just updating- I found a plan for pre exisiting conditions after much legwork! It's the NY Bridge plan. There are 2. My friend has been through hell with the drug companies and the Bridge Plan its self. It isn't well coordinated-I beleive it's fairly new. If anyone does look into this plan-PLEASE- you have to argue with them-don't give up! They told my friend he would have to pay a $6,000 co-pay! The drug company covered it-he is taking Pegasys injections which are new so the drug company wants to promote their products and pays for it.He is on a 6 month maintenance of 3 pills in the am,2 in the afternoon and 3 at night. They are huge pills! The injection is once a week-that is what makes him sick for a few days after. You do need to attend a class before you try this new injection. He had to wait for a few months because of all the confusion. Hope this works for him...

Did you show up for the shift BEFORE it was cancelled? Where I worked if we arrived to work and got sent home for low census we were paid for 2 hours anyway. It depends on you facility-check you handbook you should have received when you were hired. Otherwise as in HR they can tell you.

Sometimes it is best to listen to the patient and see if what they are used to is easier to pick up on.Like nurses usually know more about their patients than the Dr. does! My patient has a bath 3 x a week and that and drsg changes take 4-6 hours to do.My patient listens to music and watches DVD's. She helps with her dressings also. Does your patient help?If not maybe he/she could start. I know it isn't a fun procedure but you do learn to "deal' with it. I find if I distract her with talk about her interests it goes smoother. Sometimes I bribe her or we make deals on what we will do the next time I come to be with her. Some days there is no way around a "bad" day unfortunately. I don't know which Lisa you are trying to contact? Lisa1203 or NurseLisa64? I did get my NPI and Medicaid #. It took less than 3 weeks. My rate is $21.89 hr. + medically fragile. I have yet to see my pay though and I submitted on January 13th,2011. Anyways I don't have twitter either. As for finding cases-I found mine on Craigslist believe it or not. There are people who need help and Craigslist is a good place to find cases. I am very happy with my case! Hopefully I can find another soon.

I live in upstate NY and have a friend with Hep. C. The Dr. he goes to told him his liver counts are "off the charts" and wants him to have a liver biopsy. He has been extremely tired and it is getting worse. He will need interferon Tx also.The MD told him Dr.s in our area don't accept medicaid either for any of this. I found that to be strange.The MD also said my friend would have to go to a clinic....which will be a lot of traveling. He has no insurance and has been his father's FT caregiver for the past 2 yrs. and has been unable to work.He signed up for medicaid but it looks like he won't be qualified.Same goes for Family Health Plus,and Healthy NY. he can't afford insurance privately because he couldn't work while taking care of his father-catch 22. In NY it seems if you apply for Medicaid you basically have to sign over your house in order to get any help. The problem is his dad recently went to a nursing home and he paid for the house my friend lives in. The nursing home goes back 5 yrs.on finaces etc. and considers everything you bought or owned as an asset. Hence the house will have a lien on it from the nursing home. Does anyone know where he could get some help ?!!! This is so frustrating. Being born and a citizen of the USA and not being able to get healthcare-it's unreal and has me and his family extremely frustrated. We have been looking for about 2 months now without luck. We have tried different organizations without luck. PLEASE help!!

Just an update on my new job. I love it! I have learned alot and my patient is a great kid. I was wondering how her attitude would be and she doesn't have any issues I can't handle at this point. I do overnights and have to keep her from scratching-that seems to be a issue at times. Also,she has eye drops that I find hard to get in her eyes because she sleeps on her side. We give them before she goes to sleep but during the night she needs them also. Any hints?? Doe anyone have a patient who uses a massager? My patient does and I am wondering how much is too much when she uses it? I don't want her to blister under her dressings because of over use. And is incontience a problem with EB patients? We have fun together doing crafts and I have gotten her interested in gardening and starting seeds.She seems to enjoy having me there which makes me feel good! It makes it easier for me that's for sure. I was kind of expecting a "bratty" child because of what she goes through.She does seem to bulk at taking her meds and I have to keep telling her to take them. Any helpful hints will be appreciated as well as experiences you have had.

For all who want info in NY you can go to www.emeds.org to enroll. You have to get a NPI number 1st and then you get a medicaid #. I just started my enrollment last week. You have to give a license number (LPN/RN) and ss #.There are phone #'s you can call on the site for help. As for the wages- LPN I am told is around $21-22 an hour and more if you care for a fragile child. Other states Google how to get a medicaid number as a LPN or RN that's how I found this site and the emedsny site. Good luck!

After 3 weeks and 1 interview with the mom,RN and patient I recceived a call back to come in Monday to see the ins and outs of what I will be doing.I am nervous but eager also to get back into nursing and homecare.Of course this is a whole new experience for me. I noticed they kept their house cool and was wondering if it was because of the child having to wear all her bandages? That was my guess. I will be doing 1 overnight shift and 1 day shift to begin with. The Medicaid paperwork and all that goes along with it seems overwhelming and I haven't even started yet! I did fill out the forms after I spoke with someone-I was totally lost. I hope it gets easier. The worst part it seems is that it could take up to 90 days to receive pay-this is in NY. If there is anyone in NY that can guide me plmk anything you found helpful. I have tried to find a pay rate which is supposed to be on the EMedNY page but couldn't locate it.
